Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Purchasing Specialist to manage daily purchasing activities. This includes handling purchase orders, tracking shipments, and coordinating with vendors to ensure timely delivery of raw materials. The role involves maintaining effective relationships with vendors, monitoring raw material requirements, and updating safety stock levels. The successful candidate will also be responsible for updating and maintaining vendor and raw material information in SAP.
ResponsibilitiesHandle daily purchasing activities including purchase orders and cross-company purchase orders.Follow up to confirm and track ship dates, and adjust orders as needed.Communicate with vendors and sister sites to maintain effective relationships.Obtain details for open order reports, expedite orders based on production needs, and facilitate vendor returns.Monitor raw material requirements and communicate any issues or shortages.Escalate critical vendor or supply issues as necessary.Monitor and update safety stock levels for raw materials.Update raw material lead times.Create and maintain vendor and raw material information in SAP.Provide vendor information for internal sites.Coordinate samples, pickups, and drop-offs with vendors.Obtain certifications of authenticity or conformity for incoming materials.Provide reports and information as requested.Support sister sites with raw material setup and vendor information.Approve stock sharing with sister sites and coordinate drop shipments.Participate in internal, external, and vendor meetings as required.Participate in on-site and company-wide initiatives.Essential SkillsProven knowledge in the field of purchasing.Experience with SAP software and ERP systems.Strong communication and negotiation skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Effective problem-solving abilities.Ability to work well in a team.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience.Work Environment
This role involves using SAP software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. The work will require coordination with vendors and internal teams, and participation in various meetings. The dress code is business casual.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
