PURPOSE OF THE JOB
As a Purchasing Specialist, you will be the Granville site buyer and will provide leadership in the process for procuring services and products for the operations of our Science and Technology center (located in Granville, Ohio), such as MRO, capital, lab equipment and services, consultant fees, testing services, site operational services, or other business services from external suppliers. You will ensure Owens Corning’s values and business policies are upheld, while demonstrating a commitment toward personal transformation, high performance, business acumen, market knowledge and leadership.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Execution of Sourcing Strategy (50%)
Implementing purchasing needs in alignment with business strategy for R&D stakeholders. Partner with legal counsel to ensure all contracts relating to product procurement contain all details of the negotiation. Collaborate with the broader Sourcing community for learning processes and creating efficient solutions for the complex purchasing required within Science & Technology. Work with other areas of the organization regarding IP protection, safety, vendor setup, and freight terms as they relate to the purchasing process. Along with the other Purchasing Specialist, provide solutions to improve Granville spending.
Continuous Improvement and Compliance: (30%)
Lead sourcing process changes that improve efficiency and eliminate risk to the organization. Proactively identify opportunities and develop new and innovative ideas to achieve organization outcomes while ensuring Owens Corning’s policies, processes and procedures are adhered to. Partner with the other Purchasing Specialist to build capabilities specific for the advancement of sourcing such as enhancing the RFP process, standard templates, and educational tools. Ensure site compliance to Owens Corning’s requirements, processes, and controls. Partner with the Site Controller and Granville admin team to ensure compliance with P-card, purchase requisition, and other purchasing related processes.
Communication & Training (20%)
Partner with the other Purchasing Specialist to provide training for stakeholders on processes. Respond to internal and external stakeholder requests with consistent key messaging. Influence others; persuasively present thoughts and ideas; inspire commitment and ensure support for ideas. Be a local SAP, Coupa, and Business Information champion for Sourcing. Communication with external vendors as the POC for invoicing.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree required; preferably Supply Chain Management or Business. 1 year of experience in Supply Chain/Sourcing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer 3 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing or equivalent experience in the relevant business categories and managing internal/external relationships, while delivering business results. International freight knowledge, such as freight brokers, incoterms, and customs clearance. Experience with SAP and Coupa systems. Experience with payment terms and contract negotiations.

Ability to work with senior managers and executives. Demonstrate business & financial acumen and analytics, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making. Skills in contract negotiation. Ability to learn quickly and work independently. Build good relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. Able to work with all levels of the organization to enable change.
