Purchasing Supervisor

Position Summary:
Leads and develops the Purchasing Team of Buyers at the Oshkosh Site of the Automation Solutions Business Unit in procurement of required materials, supplies, equipment and services to achieve the financial and operating objectives set by the overall organizational business plan. Responsible for developing the Purchasing Team and ensuring materials availability through procurement to meet production and cost objectives. Drives a Lean Culture in a high energy team environment. Provides hiring, promotion and disciplinary action recommendations, as well as performance evaluation and feedback for direct reports.


Major Responsibilities:

Collaborates with the Purchasing Manager and Manufacturing, Materials, Project Management, Engineering and Leadership, as well as other areas in the general Supply Chain organization, including Sourcing, to drive Supply Chain performance by improving supplier cost, quality, and lead times and reducing component and assembly inventory levels.Negotiates, expedites and develops supplier network to meet daily production and customer requirementsFacilitates and leads strong supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of materials. Investigates potential for delays and/or quality issues, identifies alternative (approved) plans, and engages, elevates when any sourced item will not arrive on time to support the schedule.Supports removal of barriers to improve shipping and receiving costs to facilitate timely transport of goods within budgets and government regulations.Ensures continued employee growth through development.Establishes and maintains appropriate systems and processes to ensure honest, fair, and ethical work environment; adhering to legal regulations. Manages both human and economic resources.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

2 plus year of Direct Purchasing and, Sourcing Leadership ExperienceExperience with computerized purchasing systems including EPR/MRP, with SAP experience desiredAbility to deal and negotiate with suppliers desiredStrong organizational skills desiredAbility to function with little oversight desiredEffective communicator (verbal, written) desiredStrong technical aptitude desiredAnalytical/ data driven desired
