Purchasing Supervisor
Job Title: Purchasing SupervisorJob Description The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the procurement process within the manufacturing facility, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, components, and supplies needed for production. This role involves managing a team of 5 buyers, negotiating with vendors, and maintaining supplier relationships while adhering to quality standards and company policies. Responsibilities + Monitor supplier performance, addressing quality issues and delivery delays + Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers + Supervise and direct through KPIs a team of buyers to meet production requirements + Manage SAP master data (vendor lead times, quantity on hand, min/max, reorder points, historical usage, etc.) + Oversee SAP procurement management (purchasing suggestions based on item master detail, demand, & forecasts) + Analyze purchasing data to identify areas for improvement and implement cost-reduction initiatives + Lead inventory reduction efforts through supplier stocking to minimize company risk and inventory + Manage the purchase order process, ensuring accurate and timely issuance of orders + Expedite parts and purchase orders as required to meet the production schedule + Issue all sample and PPAP orders with proper approvals + Collaborate with the production planning team to forecast material needs and create procurement plans + Provide annual forecasts to suppliers + Manage raw material and in-transit inventories, maintaining inventory levels within established budgets + Reconcile negative inventory balances, issues with in-transits, invoice issues, and obsolescence related transactions + Help resolve ERP and Packing Slip/Receipt issues + Provide notification of all price changes on the Cost Approval Form and communicate to the assigned Sourcing Agent for review and approval + Develop and implement training programs to enhance team knowledge of procurement procedures + Provide Buyers each month with supplier late order reports + Provide and prioritize assignments to Buyers Essential Skills + 8+ years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing/industrial setting + Proficient SAP experience (implementation experience is a big plus) + Supervisory/Lead experience within purchasing Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field + Leadership abilities to manage a team of buyers and oversee procurement operations + Proven experience in manufacturing procurement, including supplier management and contract negotiation + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers + Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) + Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) + Experience in the automotive/electronics manufacturing industry is a plus Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse/manufacturing environment, with separated offices. The office space includes your own desk, computer, and phone, and is located within the warehousing facility. It is a comfortable area, but you will occasionally need to go into the warehouse area. The position is Monday through Friday, with flexible 1st shift hours. The dress code is business casual. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr. Full benefits package - available upon request. This is a Direct Hire position so benefits will be through the company directly, which will typically have a short probationary period before becoming eligible.
