Purchasing Supplier Development Stamping Tooling Engineer

Grow. with us. _To save time applying, Toyota does not offer sponsorship of job applicants for employment-based visas or any other work authorization for this position at this time._ **Who we’re looking for** Toyota’s Purchasing Supplier Development (PSD) Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Stamping Tooling Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the development of New Model products, processes and work with our Supplier Partners with a focus on Stamping & Weld tooling. To achieve this goal, the Engineer will deploy the PSD New Model Development Operational Procedure to optimize the design for manufacturability to achieve project milestones. The person in this role will support PSD’s objective to develop our outsourced supply base to ensure overall best cost, quality, manufacturability, and operational self-reliance. The candidates should consistently demonstrate attributes of next level capability as outlined in the Toyota Core Competencies and meets expectations of current position. **What you’ll be doing** + Collaborate with design and Mfg. Teams to refine stamping part design and modeling approach. + Optimize Die design to achieve desired quality and cost outcomes. + Perform CAE simulations for Stamping processes using AutoForm and Catia software, competing with supplier’s results. + Analyze the simulation results to identify potential risks for springback, material flow and forming limitations. + Utilize process engineering and Toyota Production System skills, through collaborative work with suppliers’ teams, to ensure design and implementation of optimal manufacturing processes. + Execute and manage the PSD operating procedure for specific change part content over multiple programs. + Develop, execute, and modify project strategies for critical parts, as defined by risk ranking. + Maintain and communicate responsible part status information for internal project KPI visualization internally and externally. + Lead Supplier Partner teams to root cause problem solving, consensus building, and project completion utilizing Toyota business practices. **What you bring** + Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering or 4+ years of equivalent professional experience in automotive manufacturing/engineering. + Comprehensive knowledge of Progressive, Transfer and Tandem Stamping Dies. + Working Knowledge of Robotic MiG and Laser welding. + Working Knowledge of Resistance and Spot welding and their Jigs. + Experience with Catia /AutoCAD/Autoform. + Experience reading drawings/prints, including the ability to discuss basic GD&T for manufactured parts. + Experience in Toyota Purchasing Supplier Development or equivalent. + Commodity development experience in manufacturing, Quality or Production Engineering within Stamped Structural Components: + Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%. **Added bonus if you have** + Automotive manufacturing experience, working directly for an Automotive OEM or Automotive Supplier. + New Model Production Preparation experience with demonstrated ability to manage Multiple Tier 1 Suppliers Production Preparation across multiple vehicle / unit projects. + Successful completion of Toyota Business Practice (TBP) Panel or other established problem-solving methodology training & experience. **What we’ll bring** During your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities.
