PWR/VVER Nuclear Design Engineer

Welcome to the PWR & VVER Core Design team! We have the core design responsibility for PWR and VVER reactors. Our work provides a critical contribution to the operations and business of nuclear power plants around the world.
We are part of the EMEA Fuel Engineering department, with 11 employees in roles such as reactor physicists, senior engineers and design engineers.
Your contribution to a carbon-free future
As a nuclear design engineer, your main responsibility is to participate in the development of nuclear fuel designs for manufacturing, and you simulate our fuels based on how they are positioned in the core. This is done to ensure that all safety margins are met while fully utilizing the fuel´s capacity. Among other things, this means that you will:
Contribute to the optimization of fuel utilization and assurance that the safety and regulatory requirements are fulfilled. Collaborate with engineers in criticality analyses, thermal hydraulics, fuel rod design, mechanical design and safety analyses. Participate in methods and software development Document analyses in reports, most often in English
Examples of customer projects that you can be involved in as a nuclear design engineer are cycle-specific safety analyses, development of the nuclear design for manufacturing, review of core loading plans and patterns developed by the customer, licensing of fuel and business quotes. Other tasks may concern validation and quality assurance of the core simulator codes and tools that we use and develop internally.
The role is positioned in Västerås, Sweden, with the option to work remotely 3 days per week.
