What You’ll Be Doing
As a QA Engineer II on the US Risk Technology team, you will be designing and executing tests to ensure that CIBC delivers high quality software to our risk management partners. Your focus will be testing extract-transform-load (ETL) workflows in SQL, Talend, and Databricks (Python) used in our anti-money laundering (AML) and capital stress testing tools. Testing is currently manual but automated testing is being introduced, you will play a big role in building it out and integrating it with our DevOps pipelines. You will be reporting to the Lead QA Engineer. You’ll be part of US Risk Technology, with the mandate to improve CIBC’s risk management capabilities through data, tools, and processes – enabling our bank’s continued growth.Your daily tasks will include planning, executing, and managing functional testing efforts in support of the delivery lifecycle. You define, execute and manage Regression testing efforts, as well as any needed performance or load testing, participate in the review and creation of testing documentation (e.g., test strategies, plans, schedule, test cases, dashboards, defect logs, test phase closure reports) and ensure all test artifacts adhere to testing standards and traceability requirements. You also review business and system requirements to create test cases with detailed steps and expected results and understand and communicate status to your lead and project stakeholders. In addition to this, you execute test cases and document results, raising concerns and reporting status to the QA Lead and Project team, plan, analyze, develop, debug, execute and maintain automated test cases utilizing tools such as Playwright or Selenium and assist in defining test data and test environment requirements.

How You’ll Succeed
Software Testing – translate business requirements into test cases. Design and execute end-to-end test plans. Raise defects for developers in our issue management system. Prepare software development lifecycle (SDLC) documentation.
Database Knowledge – apply your SQL skills to interpret requirements and validate data feeds.
Automation – help build out automated testing and integrate it with DevOps tooling. Exposure to scripting languages such as Python would be an asset.
Business Savvy – apply your knowledge of banking and risk management to understand challenging business problems.
Collaboration – build trusted working relationships with business stakeholders and technology partners.
Communication – express technical concepts to non-technical audiences with precision and clarity.
Continuous Learning – stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, changes in the banking industry, and regulatory developments.
Who You Are
You demonstrate experience in. Software Quality Assurance with both manual testing and automation frameworks including Selenium, Playwright, Cypress or API Testing frameworks. You have experience with DevOps tooling such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, TeamCity, or GitHub. Experience with SQL is a must and you ideally have a broad technical familiarity with cloud computing (preferably Azure) and relational databases. All CIBC US technology team members have completed or will soon complete their AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals certification. You understand banking fundamentals. Exposure to anti-money laundering, risk management, capital stress testing, credit risk models, and regulatory compliance would be particularly relevant.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $83,100-$101,500 based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
