Location Description The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania facility is 1,120,845 square feet and home to about 470 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits® and 9Lives®. This location has a cannery that produces wet dog food and there is also a Distribution Center on-site. Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, a municipal airport, a landmark Town Park with many acres of recreational activities, and has one of the largest and longest running fairs in the country. Responsibilities As a member of the line production team, this position is responsible for random sampling of production runs and evaluate them for conformance to quality standards, as well as monitoring critical control points. Maintain and check operation of station equipment. This Position will be for the N2 Night Shift Postion. It is 12 hour rotational scheudle with hours of 6:00pm-6:00am. Every other weekend is required. Essential Job Functions: NOTE: These requirements describe the main duties of the job, but are not considered a detailed description of every duty that may be assigned or required to be performed. Must be able to walk the production floor to pull samples for testing, inspection and retain storage. Samples are pulled every 30 minutes and are checked for weight and visual seam inspection on each line in wet production. Analytic samples are pulled every hour (60 minutes) on all lines in wet and dry production. Must be able to make adjustments on moisture/solids, vacuum, weights, temperature and protein to keep product in spec. Must be able to conduct brief audits of factory floor procedures. Must be able to manage retains and shelf life studies. General laboratory housekeeping and maintenance of 5S in the lab. Preparation of samples, sample collection and sample disposal that include raw materials, packaging components and finished products. Lab measurements of raw materials, in-process and finished goods such as weight, volume, temperature, density and color. Production floor checks of packaging integrity including spot inspection and lab testing such as can seam evaluation. Data entry and database management. Management of lab documentation and timely execution of testing and data reporting. Perform seam teardowns every four (4) hours or less to ensure quality standards are met. Maintain record and analyze the data captured in the WACO seam checker system. Participate in resolving seam problems. Perform additional quality checks as assigned. Assure compliance to all quality standards. Assure compliance to all GMP requirements. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum requirements for consideration are: HSD/GED required with an AS degree preferred with 1-2 years’ experience in the Food, Food Sciences and Flavors, Nutrition Sciences, Biology, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical industry. The candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of basic cGMP’s (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and GDP’s (Good Documentation Practices). The candidate must have a working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint and be able to interface with production personnel to conduct checks and audits of various processes. Familiarity with HACCP and food safety a plus; must be willing to receive training in ongoing areas of HACCP and cGMP practices.
