QA Lab Technician
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Quality Assurance Assistant Manager, the Quality Assurance Lab Technician performs laboratory functions consisting of the collection, sampling and testing of products using aseptic techniques; assurance on maintaining process control and product safety. This position operates within FDA, FSMA and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) requirements defining food safety standards for the safe production of food in the plant and offices i.e. within the standards of defined risk levels by area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Maintain and update raw material supplier information.
2. Test for titrateable acidity, moisture, pH, and Babcock fat testing on wet blended products multiple times throughout the day.
3. Enter data and test results into the computer, and communicate results to the processing personnel. Provide packing approval to wet blending operators based on test results.
4. Visually inspect finished samples. Portions will be logged, retained and shelved.
5. Perform weekly audits of the warehouse and plant, noting and documenting any product safety or GMP violations, and advising the Quality Assurance Manager.
6. Generate specialty COAs to comply with customer requests and EU Certification for overseas shipments.
7. Receive raw materials, including entering and releasing the product in Adage after checking for requirements such as kosher status, EU status, COA status, etc. Collect and sample raw material(s), and/or send to an outside laboratory for additional sampling.
