This individual must have a Quality Assurance background and can work independently, in a team orientated environment.  This person must be able to thoroughly analyze, understand and test new Data Warehouse release and Cognos Report components.  This individual will be responsible for analyzing, understanding and testing all system inputs and outputs, interfaces, and data components for the project.  This person will be required to write and execute comprehensive test plans, scripts and cases required for testing of a front end data entry application and the Oracle data repository (data warehouse) used to store the data and manage the overall release process.  In addition, they will be responsible for testing all upstream and downstream system dependencies, as well as the associated reporting tools; namely the Cognos Suite of Business Intelligence Applications.  This person will be responsible for analyzing, identifying, documenting, prioritizing and testing all areas of risk and exposure associated with the project.

 

This person must work as a vital part of an Application Development team to develop, execute and refine our IS release management processes, and ensure coordinated, high quality, on time content delivery across the enterprise.

Specifically:

ensure adequate test environments for the release process

generate Test plans, scripts and scenarios

generate and execute complex SQL statements and scripts

monitor project lifecycles, including the viability of release

make recommendations to management and about release related issues

develop and execute a uniform deployment process and deployment timelines

coordinate risk mitigation for release content


A thorough knowledge of testing methodology and the various testing phases within the development life cycle is required.  Release management background is required.  Exceptionally strong analytical skills are required.  Experience in large data conversion projects is required.  Candidates must have specific data warehousing testing experience.  A strong Oracle background and SQL skills are needed to generate querying scripts and statements.  Extensive knowledge of relational data modeling and relational database concepts like tables, primary and foreign keys, indexes, partitions, views, referential integrity, functions, triggers, stored procedures and packages is required.   Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.  A strong background with the Cognos Suite of Business Intelligence Applications and reporting tools is required. 

 

The QA Manager's role will include:

 

Individual will be validating that testing and Release Management Processes are being performed effectively and consistently by all development groups.

Tracking corrective actions of defect related incidents to reduce the trend.

Verifying that implemented defect changes have been made successfully.

Monitoring and reporting success/failure of changes.

Seek to acquire and categorize root causes to failure modes and validating that corrective and preventative activities occur and are communicated across development groups where a similar risk might exist.

Ensure the integrity and consistency of test environments

Providing maintenance and administration functions for test environments

Supporting the software development group in the design of solutions based on requirements.

Facilitating the builds to ensure all features for a release have been accounted for and tested before working with the teams to promote to production.

Working within a development framework that includes involvement with configuration management, code reviews and test support.

Developing and managing the testing and roll out schedule for and across all functional groups involved in the release.
