Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) to support our manufacturing processes. The candidate will act as a liaison between our team and our Contract Manufacturing partners to ensure production quality meets our high standards. The ideal candidate would have 8+ years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering work, with a focus on ensuring that manufacturing is aligned with design specifications and quality expectations.
ResponsibilitiesServe as the QA/QC liaison between our team and Contract Manufacturing partners to ensure adherence to design specifications and high-quality standards.Ensure the contract manufacturer is building according to drawings and models while maintaining rigorous quality benchmarks.Develop and document performance requirements, test plans, procedures, reports, and any contractual specifications necessary to ensure product quality.Collaborate with shop floor staff and our team to identify, discuss, and resolve design or manufacturing challenges.Partner with the design team to create, implement, and enforce quality standards and inspection procedures at every stage of production and system installation.Contribute to the design and definition of custom equipment.Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines and priorities are met.Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise between teams and document progress.Essential SkillsExperience in DFM (Design for Manufacturing), manufacturing engineering, and manufacturing processes.Proficiency in quality control and quality assurance standards.Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CAD software.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.8+ years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.Strong background in QA/QC within a manufacturing environment.Experience in managing quality standards and ensuring compliance with design documentation.Experience working directly with contract manufacturers and shop floor teams to resolve design and production issues.Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently in a fast-paced environment.Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, including engineering and manufacturing.Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in the design and definition of custom equipment.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Work Environment
The role requires being on-site at our manufacturing facility in Mt Vernon (409 Eleanor Ln, Mt Vernon, WA) at least 3 days a week, with the possibility of hybrid work for the rest of the week. Up to 1 day (as needed) may be spent at the Ballard R&D facility (NW, Seattle, WA) for collaboration with the engineering team. The work environment has a small startup feel and is highly collaborative.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $57.00
