Job Title: QA TechnicianJob Description
A food manufacturing company specializing in developing extruded particulates, high protein soy rice crisps, rice flours & blends, and gluten-free products is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician. This role is part of the quality team, collaborating with Safety, Logistics, Maintenance, and Production Departments to ensure products are produced according to established guidelines, specifications, and regulatory compliance standards. This will be achieved through quality auditing, testing, and monitoring.
Responsibilities
+ Perform daily laboratory testing, equipment calibration, and troubleshooting.
+ Conduct data entry and issue certificates of analysis.
+ Monitor production lines and take proactive actions to assist the Production Department.
+ Maintain and monitor rework and substandard products.
+ Prepare samples and conduct micro testing.
+ Perform environmental monitoring and sample preparation.
+ Coordinate samples, testing, results, and follow up with corrective actions if needed.
+ Provide auditing support, including weight control, CCP verification, monthly internal audits, calibration certification, GMPs, etc.
+ Occasionally accompany auditors during facility audits.
+ Perform analyses and special projects as required.
+ Support HSE/HR departments with assigned projects.
+ Assist with customer requests, visits, and regular audits as needed.
+ Inspect, test, and release raw materials.
+ Coordinate investigations, corrective actions, and root cause analyses.
+ Conduct visual inspections after sanitation, coordinate line cleaning, and update production managers on outcomes.
Essential Skills
+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, etc.
+ Proven communication skills, team working ability, and strong work ethic.
+ Initiative and leadership qualities, ability to speak up when something is wrong.
+ Willingness to learn.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Life science degree OR 3+ years working in a quality position within a regulated/GMP environment.
+ Food manufacturing experience preferred; GMP experience required if lacking a related degree.
+ Food Science Degree is a plus.
+ Ability to take initiative and adapt well.
+ Ability to think independently and follow directions without micromanagement.
+ Reliability and accountability in performing tasks.
+ Outgoing personality with strong communication skills to work well with team members.
+ Ability to handle feedback constructively and communicate compliance issues respectfully.
Work Environment
This candidate will be working on-site at a brand-new facility built within the past 10 years. The facility includes 3 labs (2 Dry Labs & 1 Wet Lab), and the candidate will spend most of their time in the dry lab until fully trained. The facility is regulated by FDA/USDA and is maintained to high cleanliness standards. The company operates 24/7 production, and this position is for the 2nd shift (2:30pm – 10:30pm) Monday-Friday, with flexibility in hours as needed. Weekend work may be required occasionally, and the candidate must be flexible based on the production schedule. Initial training will take place on the first shift (7am-3pm) until fully trained. The candidate may also need to visit a warehouse 20 minutes away for inspections and sample collection. This is a fast-paced quality-based role requiring adaptability and flexibility.
