Job Description

Your work will have real-world impact, and you’ll be supported in achieving your career goals.Responsibilities:Carry out Quality Control Testing in accordance with Oxoid test specifications and methods. This will include but is not limited to:Level 1, 2, and 3 testing methodsMedia PreparationCompleting OOS reports and assisting with investigationsTraining records recorded and maintainedPlan, track and control the progress of products under test, and provide accurate availability dates to planning and customer servicesAlerting the QC Team Leader of potential problems/failures and assist with further investigationEnsure all test results are recorded within the SAP Quality Management moduleEquipment checks and auditsCleaning, Waste management, Consumable replenishing and Use of autoclavesEnsure processes and procedures are carried out in accordance with the laboratory and company Quality SystemsBuild and maintain effective working relationships to ensure robust collaboration multi-functionally and with key partners (key interfaces include QC Manager, , QC Team Leader, QC Lead Scientist, QA, Manufacturing Sciences, Production, Customer Services and Planning) to ensure customer service level targets are metTaking direction from the QC Team Leader, Lead Scientist and Senior Scientist regarding prioritization of finished product and raw material testingEngage in continuous improvement using the PPI lean methodology including standard work and tier meetings. Use PPI processes to address problems and improve departmental and business processesRole-model the Thermo Fisher 4I Values and use as a day-to-day guide in decision makingTo fulfill the responsibilities of the position as defined in the Oxoid Health, Safety and Environmental policies and associated Codes of PracticeMinimum Qualifications:Level 6 educational qualification or equivalent in a Microbiology or related subject (Study towards level 6 or QBE will also be considered)Effective planning and organizational skillsDecision Quality - Attention to detail and a systematic approachDrive for Results - Delivering consistent results by being willed to take action, demonstrating organizational agility, planning effectively and setting priorities.Good numeracy skills, and ability to read and follow methods / SOPs preciselyPreferred Qualifications:Significant experience of quality control testing within a microbiology laboratory environmentComposure – Able to remain calm and work methodically under pressureSignificant experience in using SAP, and MS Office software packagesProblem Solving - Effective in technical and organizational trouble-shooting to root causeCommunicates openly creating collaborative relationships by developing strong work relationships, displaying integrity and building trust across functionsExperience in basic laboratory skills and techniques (pipetting, swabbing, streaking, pouring plates etc).
