QC Chemist
QC Chemist As a QC Chemist, you will conduct chemical, physical, and performance testing to support the chemical manufacturing process. You will analyze raw materials, in-process materials, and finished product samples, perform data entry, generate and file records, set up lab equipment, perform calibrations, and recommend/initiate corrective actions for lab and product non-conformance. Responsibilities + Conduct chemical, physical, and performance testing in accordance with established policies and procedures. + Analyze raw materials, in-process materials, and finished product samples. + Perform data entry and generate and file records. + Set up laboratory equipment and perform calibrations. + Recommend and initiate corrective actions for lab and product non-conformance. + Support safety, quality, 5S, ISO, GMP, and housekeeping policies and procedures. + Actively contribute to continuous quality, environmental, and safety improvement processes. + Perform testing including colorimetry, IR, titrations (auto and manual), viscosity, turbidity, digital density, melting and freezing point, GC, LC-MS, and atomic absorption. + Analyze and record data in Excel or SAP. Essential Skills + 4-year Chemistry Degree (zero years of work experience required) OR + 4-year Associated Science Degree with a minimum of 2 years QC work experience OR + 2-year Chemistry or Equivalent Degree with a minimum of 4 years QC work experience. + Self-motivated, results-oriented, and computer literate. + Excellent written and oral communication skills. + Ability to frequently interact professionally with manufacturing personnel regarding quality-related matters. + Familiarity with standard lab methodology and instrumentation. + Technical skills to achieve challenging objectives. + Ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with analytical chemistry, wet chemistry, gas chromatography, titration, chromatography, ICP, cGMP, pipetting, GC-MS, viscosity, mass spectrometry, biochemistry, batch record analysis, method validation. Work Environment This role is based at the only site in North America, sharing a large campus with BASF. Many employees have been with the company for 20-40 years. The QC lab is a well-sized, climate-controlled, and very clean manufacturing lab. Samples are brought from production to the lab where chemists follow specific protocols for each sample. The QC lab consists of 10-12 individuals, including chemists on each shift, fixed chemists, a Quality Manager, and a Supervisor. You will train on the first shift and then transition to a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (e.g., Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday; Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday). Benefits include a pay increase once brought on permanently, a bonus and merit raise every January, 11 vacation days, 7 floating holidays, and a 6% match on 401k.
