Job Description

The QC Laboratory Technician 1 is involved in the daily analysis of manufactured product. The position carries the responsibility to release or reject product and is involved in the maintenance, calibration, and validation of equipment used in the analysis. The technician is expected to conduct duties assigned with sound technical and business judgment and to follow the practices of the laboratory.

Overall Objectives and Responsibilities:

Works and communicates effectively with QC personnel and members of other departments (Manufacturing, Customer Support, Development, Maintenance, and Logistics).Understands and follows documents relevant to responsibilities e.g. Work flows, Work instructions, Checklists, Batch Records, and Logs.Makes Quality Control decisions according to the company's specifications in a time-sensitive manner after completion of training and demonstration of proficiency.Is able to multi-task product analysis while paying close attention to detail.Ensures proper daily operation of automated equipment.Keeps equipment and work environment clean, organized, and ready for use.Has the ability to troubleshoot and correct commonly encountered issues with laboratory equipment.Maintains accurate production records according to requirements and in compliance with established Quality system standards.Maintains consistent quality and efficiency in all work processes.Follow all relevant company health, safety, and regulatory policies, including handling of hazardous materials and wearing of proper PPE (personal protective equipment).Completes applicable on-site training programs successfully.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelors of Science - Life Sciences or EngineeringProven ability to follow written and oral instructionsAbility to perform under pressure in a fast paced environmentIs prepared to work overtime during shifts other than the one assigned or weekends, if requestedProven ability to work well in a team with little supervisionAbility lift 35+ pounds

Preferences:

2+ years experience in QC; ESI-MS and HPLC proficiency highly preferredPrevious experience working in an ISO-9000 or cGMP environmentPrevious experience in MALDI_TOF, mass spectrometry, ESI mass spectrometry, Capillary gel Electrophoresis, and HPLC is a  plus but not necessaryPrevious experience working with general lab equipmentMicrosoft Windows and Excel proficiency and experience using lab specific softwarePrevious experience working with Hazardous Chemicals
