QC Specialist
Job Title: QC Specialist

Job Description

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for auditing finished goods and the manufacturing facility to ensure quality control. This role involves database maintenance, troubleshooting, product disposition, product hold/release authority, quality inspection, and reporting issues related to Food Safety and Quality. Cross-training in other QC functions is required to provide backup support as needed.

ResponsibilitiesInspect finished goods, representing Medical Foods, Dietary supplements, and other high-profile contract customer products.Enter data into company databases.Perform inspection of equipment, product, and production lines.Ensure conformance to GMP guidelines and company policies/procedures.Audit facilities, manufacturing equipment, and product as required.Identify non-conforming conditions and products related to food safety and quality.Place on hold products or materials that do not conform to specifications.Initiate investigations into causes of material or product non-conformance, gathering pertinent information.Investigate customer complaints with guidance from Supervisor.Perform internal audits based on SQF guidelines.Make suggestions to improve safety, food safety, and quality.Suggest ways to increase efficiency and cost savings within the department and participate in implementation.Gather sample products as required.Provide training to other employees as directed.Essential Skills1+ years’ quality control experience in the food/beverage industry.Knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP, SQF, FDA regulations for foods and beverages, and internal auditing.Good computer skills (e-mail, internet use, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint).Good written and oral communication skills in English are required.Ability to work in a team-based environment and independently.Proactive behavior with good analytical skills (observation, attention to detail, problem-solving).Basic math skills: Arithmetic, percentages, ratios, measurements.Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize tasks.Good conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with CAPA investigations and training of personnel.Desire to learn, take on challenges and responsibilities, and flexibility to adapt to change.Ability to identify and communicate unsafe work conditions to Supervisor.Work Environment

The position is based in a temperature-controlled manufacturing plant. The QC Specialist will spend 85% of the time walking and rotating between production lines performing QC checks and 15% in the QC lab/office updating reports and conducting tests. The position offers shifts on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
