QC Specialist
Job Title: QC Specialist

Job Description

The Quality Control Specialist has broad responsibility for Quality Control auditing of finished goods and the manufacturing facility. This position will also be responsible for database maintenance, troubleshooting, and product disposition, as well as product hold/release authority, quality inspection, and investigating and reporting issues associated with Food Safety and Quality. Employees in this role will receive cross-training in other QC functions to provide backup support as needed.

ResponsibilitiesAudit finished goods, representing Medical Foods, Dietary supplements, and other high-profile contract customer products.Enter data into company databases.Inspect equipment, products, and production lines.Ensure conformance to GMP guidelines and company policies/procedures.Inspect/audit facilities, manufacturing equipment, and products as required.Identify non-conforming conditions and products relating to food safety and quality.Place on hold products or materials that do not conform to specifications.Initiate investigations into the causes of material or product non-conformance, gathering pertinent information without prompt from Supervisor.Investigate customer complaints with guidance from Supervisor.Perform internal audits based on SQF guidelines (hard plastic, processing line, x-ray, etc.).Suggest improvements to safety, food safety, and quality.Suggest and actively participate in implementing ideas to increase efficiency and cost savings within the department.Gather sample products as required.Provide training to other employees as directed.Essential Skills1+ years of quality control experience in the food/beverage industry.Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, SQF, FDA regulations for foods and beverages, and internal auditing.Experience with CAPA investigations and training of personnel is a plus.Good computer skills (e-mail, internet use, basic skills in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint).Good written and oral communication skills in English are required. Spanish bilingual is a huge plus.Ability to work in a team-based environment.Ability to work independently.Proactive behavior (take initiatives/make suggestions/follow up with limited supervision).Good analytical skills (observation, attention to detail, problem-solving).Desire to learn, take on challenges and responsibilities, and flexibility to adapt to change.Basic math skills: arithmetic, percentages, ratios, measurements.Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize tasks.Good conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to complete a skills assessment test to assess basic skills needed in the position, including basic math, decimal math, English, color, and comprehension.Work Environment

The work environment includes a temperature-controlled manufacturing plant. The role requires walking throughout the plant all day. The position is available on the 2nd shift (2:00 pm – 10:30 pm) with a rotating Saturday schedule. Additional openings are available on the 1st shift (6:00 am – 2:30 pm) and the 3rd shift (10:00 pm – 6:30 am), both with rotating Saturday schedules. The hours for this position are Monday to Friday, with potential overtime as scheduled, which may include Saturdays. Candidates must be flexible to work overtime.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
