Purpose of the job
A member of the Senior Management Team, the QHSE Manager is responsible for the development, proposal and subsequent implementation of the QHSE strategy along with the management of the Business Management Systems to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, external and internal customer requirements and crucially our self-imposed Quality and Safety filters.

Key Accountabilities
Ensuring departmental performance to a standard which satisfies internal and external customer requirements.
Mentor and coach the Senior Management Team on their responsibilities and the actions required by them to enable the site wide effective, competent management and continuous improvement of QHSE systems, issues and strategy.
Lead and coach the QHSE team on their responsibilities and the actions required by them to enable the effective and competent management of local QHSE issues.
Custodian of the QHSE Management Review process. Responsibilities include the scheduling of the Annual and interim reviews, the generation (in consultation with Managing Director) of Management Review data including KPI’s, preparation of meeting agenda, meeting minutes, and action plans / targets and the documentation of any activity relating to Management Review targets and objectives. Act as point of advice / contact for the Management team on matters relating to Management Review.
Produce and distribute QHSE Monthly Report providing KPI details including customer complaint resolutions, product / service non conformity, product / service / system quality problems. Health and safety activities (accidents / incidents / risk management exercises / etc), Environmental activities (incidents / risk management / etc), QHSE training undertaken / planned.
Responsible for the maintenance of the Business Management Systems to review and update as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory and business requirements and best practice.
Focal point with the external auditors of the attained standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO TS29001 and BS OHSAS 18001.
Trend audit recommendations to identify patterns in performance and/or recommend changes to QHSE and Project/Operations documentations.
Provision of QHSE legal and best practice advice to the Company. Maintenance of the QHSE legal register.
Initiate, provide or recommend solutions to QHSE concerns through management channels.
To monitor the effective implementation of appropriate QHSE procedures and provide for their updating in accordance to changes in Legislation and Company Directives.
Responsible for the effective co-ordination of internal responses to fulfil the requirements of the complaints resolution process.
Responsible for the production of appropriate schedules for the internal auditing of QHSE procedures.
To chair the Company Health, Safety and Environment Committee
Responsible for setting and adherence to the QHSE budget.
Liaison with Chief HR/HSE Officer on Corporate HSE initiatives.
Working with procurement on supplier management and improvement.

The QHSE function operates both internally and externally and good communication between all parties is crucial.
Specifically, the post holder must engage in regular communication with all departments within the business.

Employment, Educational and Professional Background
A good level of engineering / manufacturing experience with a proven record in QHSE.
You will have a lead auditor qualification with a detailed understanding of risk assessment, accident / incident investigation and internal auditing, developing and implementing processes and procedures and proficient handling / support of customer complaints.
Experience of managing and leading a team.
Ideally a Diploma of the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).
Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 is are essential. Knowledge of ISO TS 29001 is desirable.
Experience of influencing interdepartmentally at all levels within the organisation.
Computer literate to a high standard.
