QMED/Oiler
The Oiler works under the direction of the Technical Section Leader. His/her basic duties include monitoring, operation, and performing maintenance and repair of rig main engines and auxiliary systems. Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Duties also include performing general housekeeping duties and painting/preservation in the engineering spaces. He/she will also assist the Engine Room Responsible or Mechanic in routine maintenance and repair of rig drilling, auxiliary, and support systems to meet operational requirements as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent.1+ years of experience in an engine room working on large scale diesel engines. Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.Must hold a QMED/Oiler Endorsement or higher for the flag state of the vessel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Safely and efficiently perform all assigned duties.Assist in ensuring that repairs and projects are finished within the scheduled time of completion in order to keep a backlog of work to a minimum.Assist in ensuring that equipment failure is kept to a minimum and within contractual limits.Assist to ensure entries on permits, isolation tags and logs accurately reflect the current status of equipment.Ensure the engineering spaces are kept clean and all equipment/tools are stowed properly.Ensure all maintenance operations proceed in a safe manner.Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with the preventative maintenance program under the direction of the Chief Engineer or designee.Maintain the engine room daily operating logs.Perform general maintenance around the engineering spaces; keeping motor room and machinery spaces clean and painted.Assist the 3rd Engineer in maintaining all rig power generating equipment and drives and all air, fuel, water, cooling and heating systems.Report on parts, tools and supplies needed to maintain the equipment for which one is responsible.Assist other crew members as directed by the Chief Engineer, Rig Maintenance Supervisor, Driller or Rig Manager.Participate in the development of newly appointed team members.Maintain good two-way communication with crew members.

         HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL

Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner.  Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.Responsible for familiarizing and adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.Responsible for familiarizing and utilizing Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and prepare hazard assessments as required.Responsible for compliance with all government regulations.
