GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Responsible for translating data into actionable information (information is critical to improve processes and achieve outcomes encompassing quality, safety and financial initiatives) and providing decision support for clinicians and operations associates.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Utilizes quality measurement concepts and techniques for assigned care areas and functions. (20%)Collaborates with clinical abstracting staff to maximize manual data collection resources. Collaborates with informatics programmer/analyst to maximize mining electronic data sources. Queries appropriate databases (e.g., Atlas) or obtain database reports from other databases (e.g., Case Mix, PLM, coding, patient safety). Uses risk-adjustment techniques for clinical outcomes, patient safety techniques such as root cause analysis and FMEA, etc. (20%)Applies knowledge of informatics philosophies and methods to deliver the right information to the right people at the right time to take the right action. This information maximizes Pay for Quality revenue, helps manage hospital costs and operations, and improves service delivery. This includes assisting programmers with report creation and distribution, mapping data for electronic information flow, etc. (20%)Analysis of information from internal and external benchmarking to determine key findings, patterns and trends. Determines need for drilldown information. Integrates comparative findings with internal results. Applies statistical analysis where indicated utilizing standard statistics software application (e.g. Minitab). (20%)Makes presentations and distributes information to teams and oversight committees. Determines best tools/methods for presenting information (tables, charts, narrative) based on best method to help customer take focused action. (20%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

Bachelor's degree in health care related fieldBS degree must be obtained within 2 years of hire3 years of related experience

Preferred

Lean Six Sigma Certification
