Position Description

 

One (1) Quality Assurance Analyst to assist the Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB), and the Department of Community Health (DCH) Vital Records Division to modify and enhance the State Of Michigan (SOM) Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS) and support additional database interfaces to additional systems and related services as required. Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS) provides a web based application to all authorized users those who participate in completion, filing and registration of a death case with the Office of Vital Records. The core EDRS is missing several components needed in order to fully implement the application. Resource are required to complete development of the Vital Records Electronic Death Registry System (EDRS) web based application, leading to the successful deployment state wide. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works in conjunction with the project team to evaluate applications based on business/functional requirements and designs and develop test cases accordingly.

• Applies test methodology and product knowledge in the design of tests and testing strategies for the analysis and certification of products.

• Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality for large and complex projects.

• Communicates issues identified during quality assurance activities to development and provides recommended process improvements to management.

 

Skills Required

Minimum 5 years in Software Quality Assurance in client server and web applications.

Minimum 5 years testing custom, JAVA/J2EE, Web applications developed with JAVA/J2EE, CSS, JavaScript, and Jbos, hibernate, myeclipse and SQL.

Minimum 5 years in the documenting of test plans, test cases, test results.

Minimum 3 years utilizing HP Load/Road Runner and HP QTP (Quick Test Professional) to create test scripts for automated testing.

Advanced proficiency with all MS Office applications and Microsoft Visio. Strong written and communication skills.

 

Skills Preferred

Ability to conduct training & information sessions, communicate at a level appropriate to the audience, make oral and written reports and presentations.

 

Experience Required

Experience analyzing requirements and developing test cases. Experience in a QA role through the complete Software Development Life cycle on a complex software development project. Experience interfacing with technology leadership as well as the business client.

 

Experience Preferred

Experience with Test Management tools Microsoft Team Foundation Server, HP Load/Road Runner, HP QTP (Quick Test Professional).

 

Education Required

Bachelor’s Degree

Extensive expertise with J2EE software engineering techniques, especially JEE authorization/authentication and session management specifications: JSP, JavaScript, CSS, Struts, Hibernate (without Annotations), Jbos, myeclipse; Oracle database backend B. Knowledge of SUITE processes & state standards C. Knowledge & experience in web architecture. D. Knowledge of state & federal regulations & requirements in regards to the public health statistics and information systems. E.
