Quality Assurance Analyst II

The Quality Assurance Analyst II ensures that all necessary testing is completed in a timely manner, and that any non-compliances are elevated. The primary job responsibilities include scheduling, receiving, processing, testing, and reporting laboratory test results for a NELAP (National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program) microbiology certified laboratory as they are completed. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating samples for testing, sample log in and organization, maintaining inventory and housekeeping, and data entry/review. This position works onsite, primarily in the laboratory within QA, but also works closely with the Technicians, and Laboratory Manager.

Essential Functions

Proactively identifies and communicates day-to-day safety concerns and corrects issues. Works closely with laboratory manager to ensure all safety incidents are documented properly.Trainer for the technologist/technician position. Works closely with laboratory manager to ensure all training is documented properly.Completes reports for outside agencies accurately and on time.Manages day-to-day sample receiving. Effectively priorities samples based on business needs. Responsible for ensuring that all samples are received, organized, and retained per SOP. Upholds timeframe for sample retention, and documents sample destruction.Performs in-house laboratory testing, including but is not limited to, Microbiology and associated tests. Actively identifies and communicates out-of-specification, out-of-trend, and investigative results to manager. Documents results in data management system.Maintains testing equipment performance and conveys equipment and testing status to manager. This includes, but is not limited to, routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, replacing parts, troubleshooting, calibration, standard checks, quality control, and data review.Documents all results, calibrations, system suitability checks, QA/QC data, and reports in data management system. Identifies and notifies manager and/or chemist of any issues.Maintains current knowledge of chemical safety. Technologist is responsible for reviewing and understanding the Safety Data Sheets prior to working with any chemicals.Maintains laboratory supplies and chemical inventory. Upholds an active inventory of the chemicals commonly used in the laboratory, including but not limited to chemical name, quantity, storage container and location, description, CAS, etc. Notifies the manager of any new reagents needed.Maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment on a daily basis. Responsible for general housekeeping of the lab. Ensures floors are mopped, countertops are wiped down at the end of the shift, and trash and recyclables are disposed of in the appropriate receptacles.Peer reviews routine in-house laboratory testing data per protocol, as needed.Generates laboratory reports, summaries, and trends for review, as needed.Assists with writing and maintaining laboratory SOPs, methods, feasibility and stability studies, and validations, as needed.Please note this job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:2 Years  – Experience in Laboratory performing microbiological testing2 Years  – Experience in working with chemicals in the laboratory2 Years  – Experience performing laboratory projects/experiments4 credit hours in microbiology

Preferred Qualifications:2 Years– Experience in Laboratory maintaining and troubleshooting microbiological testing equipment.2 Years – Experience in working with volatile chemicals and concentrated acids in an analytical laboratory2 Years – Experience managing laboratory projects/experiments

Competencies

Knowledge of basic laboratory and chemical safety.Strong attention to detail and effectively organization skills.Performs work well under minimal supervision.Strong verbal, writing, and presentation skills.Handles basic issues and problems per protocol, and elevates effectively.Ability to work well in both independent and collaborative group environments.Basic knowledge of and experience with Microsoft office and data management tools.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
