**Quality Assurance Lab Supervisor** **Job Purpose:** Direct supervision of Quality Assurance Laboratory Technicians, operation of the Quality Assurance laboratory, and support of the North Bend Quality Management System. **Job Context & Major Challenges:** Testing, releasing, and auditing Carbon Black material through the manufacturing process to the customer in a time-sensitive manufacturing process. **Principal Accountabilities:** 1. **Supervision of Laboratory Testers:** Supervising hourly union lab testers, ensuring proper training, scheduling overtime, coaching, and counseling as required, administering the collective bargaining agreement (35%). 2. **Laboratory Equipment:** Supervising and performing equipment calibrations, maintaining control charts and calibration records (20%). 3. **Equipment, Inventory Supplies and Standards:** Maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory to meet ISO, ASTM, and Birla Carbon standards (15%). 4. **Coverage:** Providing backup support for Quality Assurance staff (10%). 5. **Safety Health and Environmental:** Ensuring laboratory operations comply with SH&E standards (5%). 6. **Sample Order Shipment:** Coordinating and ensuring preparation and shipment of sample orders to customers with proper quality documents (5%). 7. **Laboratory Budget:** Operating laboratory within established budgetary guidelines (5%). 8. **Other Duties:** Performing tasks as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager (5%). **Position Requirements:** **Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:** + **Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing methodology** + **Ability to perform laboratory tests and ensure quality levels** + **Effective interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills** + **Planning, scheduling, and organization skills** + **Flexible work hours** + **Proficient use of MS Office suite** **Education & Experience:** + **Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field or relevant/equivalent experience** + **Two or more years of supervisory experience, preferably in a laboratory facility** + **Experience in troubleshooting & calibrating laboratory equipment** **Misc. Requirements:** + **Able to lift 50 lbs.** + **Preferred Qualifications:** Chemical manufacturing plant experience, laboratory testing experience, PC literate, knowledge of ISO9000, knowledge of statistical process control.
