The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will have primary accountability for developing and managing the plant QC environment for the cheese procurement and packaging operation. This position will lead the plant in the implementation of Saputo’s Quality Systems and will develop and continuously improve plant procedures for monitoring and ensuring conformance to specifications for incoming raw materials as well as for finished product.
How You Will Make Contributions That Matter
Develop and ensure implementation of food safety and monitoring programs to meet corporate and regulatory standards. This individual is ultimately responsible for food safety and food quality.Oversee and monitor quality programs and all prerequisite programs (i.e., HACCP, GMP, Positive Release, Pest Control, sanitation, etc.)Compliance and record keeping for all mandated quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activitiesPreparation and resolution for all Company Quality AuditsTracking and review quality customer complaints including root cause and corrective measures.Recommends or develops tools to improve quality programs and quality trackingStays current with process-related industry standardsLeads and mentors quality assurance team membersEmbrace a forward-thinking attitude toward sanitation, microbiological control, and food safety; monitor and audit sanitation process regularlyDevelop and conduct at a minimum annually, various employee training related to quality and food safety expectations/programs of the quality management system (i.e., GMP, HACCP, Allergen, SQF, CCP, etc.)Manage quality control procedures to ensure accurate raw materials and finished product traceability for returns evaluation and potential product recallDevelop and implement SOPs to ensure products are packaged to all applicable standardsEnsure SPC controls are in place to monitor the Saputo weight control program to maximize yield while meeting regulatory standardsWork with the purchasing, scheduling, warehouse, and operations departments to manage cheese requirements for production, as neededWork with the procurement department and vendors to maintain/improve cheese qualityMaintain, monitor, and report the Hold and Release programDirect employees in quality assurance on the proper methods required to assure that all Company and regulatory standards are met on a daily basis, including basic analytical testing (i.e., moisture, pH, melt tests)Assist and monitor Sanitation crew effectiveness through equipment and environmental sampling and routine plant auditsAny other duties as assign by managerAdheres to all policies listed in the Employee HandbookAdheres to all policies listed in the Employee Safety Handbook and maintains a good personal safety recordPromotes and adheres to all policies and procedures relating to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, regulatory compliance and Saputo’s Quality PolicyOther duties as assigned by supervisorYou Are Best Suited For The Role If You….
Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, quality, or a related discipline3-5 years quality assurance management experience work experience, particularly in the food manufacturing industry is an asset or dairy and/or cheese packaging industry is a plus; and two (2) or more years as a quality analyst with an emphasis on process improvement, quality and risk assessments, quality audits and studies; or equivalent combination of education and experienceIn-depth knowledge and use of process improvement and quality management methods, tools, and technology used to create and support defect-free, application software or business operations processes for which the quality program will be focusedSQF Practitioner – Will be responsible for any changes or updates to the SQF programIn-depth knowledge and experience conducting risk analyses; quality assessments, audits and/or studies; and implementing successful process improvement programsConsiderable skill in analysis, solid decision-making and problem solvingAbility to succeed in an agile work environment where cross-functional teams work closely together to ensure requirements are met or exceededAbility to work collaboratively with others to achieve the company and project goalsAbility to influence and motivate employeesAbility to demonstrate interpersonal and teambuilding skills, working with technical and non-technical individualsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAble to work independently with attention to detailWe Support and Care For Our Employees By Providing Them With…
