Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Manager to lead all audit functions, ensure conformity to regulations, and develop strong working relationships with USDA officials. This role requires overseeing the functions and performance of the Plant QA and Regulatory Affairs Staff, hiring and training personnel, and acting as a key member of the HACCP Core Team.
ResponsibilitiesLead all audit functions and make recommendations for corrective and preventive actions to ensure regulatory conformity.Develop and maintain strong working relationships with USDA officials.Oversee the functions and performance of the Plant QA and Regulatory Affairs Staff.Hire and train new and existing personnel in the department for professional development.Act as a HACCP Core Team member responsible for annual HACCP assessments.Effectively communicate with the Director of Quality Assurance, Manufacturing personnel, and department staff.Serve as a Safe Quality Food (SQF) practitioner with overall responsibility and authority to lead and oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the current SQF code.Identify and execute cost savings initiatives.Perform root cause analysis for customer complaints and HACCP failures.Aid and serve on cross-functional teams within the company as needed.Serve as back-up for QA Director, and be backed up by QA Supervisor and Regulatory Affairs Supervisor.Accept special projects and complete them promptly.Work flexible hours, including weekends as needed.Minimal travel and overnight travel.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Food Science/Meat Science.10 years of experience in Quality Assurance management in the food industry.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Development and management of critical food safety and quality systems (HACCP, SQF, Organic, USDA regulations).SQF and HACCP certifications.Strong computer skills with high-level proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong leadership and team management skills.Problem-solving and analytical skills.Experience in conducting training and professional development.Work Environment
The position operates on the 1st shift, Monday through Friday, with occasional calls during the 2nd or 3rd shifts.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $97000.00
11 paid holidays - eligible right away
Vacation time - 3 weeks first year, 4 weeks after 7 years
Benefits after 60 days: Medical, dental, vision - Stephanie will send candidates benefits after they make it to the onsite stage
