Responsibilities:
• Quality Assurance & Control: Lead, implement and oversee the quality control and assurance processes throughout the OU to ensure compliance with QA/QC standards. Conduct comprehensive audits and assessments to drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and Review Technical Documentation: Create and evaluate technical documents, including quality management plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), sampling plans, and technical reports to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed and actionable reports on QA/QC activities, including audit findings and recommendations for enhancements.
• Training & Development: Create and present training materials designed to strengthen team understanding of QA/QC processes and standards.
• Collaboration: Partner with diverse teams within the EGS OU to support their quality assurance needs, ensuring that all services—spanning environmental consulting, engineering, science, remediation, asset management, master planning, and IT—meet the highest standards of excellence.
• Client Interaction: Engage with client quality assurance teams to resolve comments on documents and processes, ensuring client satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
• Incident Tracking: Monitor quality incidents and manage corrective actions to uphold quality standards.
• Support & Leadership: Assist operations manager, program managers, project managers, technical staff and other stakeholders with quality-related issues. Lead, direct and mentor staff in applying QA/QC requirements and troubleshooting problems as they arise.
Qualifications & Requirements:

• Certifications: Certifications from the American Society for Quality (ASQ), such as Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA), and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), as well as ISO Lead Auditor and Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), are considered a plus.
• Experience: Proven track record in quality assurance/quality control, including experience with environmental consulting and construction QA. Deep understanding of QA/QC principles and standards relevant to environmental consulting, including those set by organizations like the U.S. EPA, DOD, USACE, and ASTM.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of U.S. EPA and state-specific environmental regulations and guidelines including those related to sampling, analysis, and reporting.
• Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge related to environmental consulting, including familiarity with environmental investigation techniques, remediation methods, and data analysis.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify problems, conduct root cause analysis, and develop effective corrective actions.
• Audit and Inspection: Experience conducting environmental audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable SOPs.
• Project Coordination: Ability to work with project managers and technical staff to support quality assurance efforts and ensure project objectives are met.
• Training and Development: Experience in designing and delivering training programs related to quality assurance and control.
• Technical Documentation: Skill in developing and reviewing technical documents, such as quality management plans, standard operating procedures, and sampling plans.
This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.
Education & Experience:
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance and/or quality control within environmental consulting with increasing levels of responsibility. Experience should include direct involvement in environmental projects, audits, sampling, and monitoring.
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline. A PhD or Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Most work is expected to be in a clean office environment using standard office tools such as a computer, stapler, scissors, etc. However, the Deputy QA Manager must be able to safely and independently travel via air to work operations at hazardous waste sites. Adherence to health and safety requirements in all environments is absolutely required.

• Client Relations: Ability to interact effectively with clients to address quality-related issues and resolve comments on documentation and processes.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to develop positive relationships and rapport with staff, build teams, thoughtfully listen to staff or team concerns, influence/persuade staff and teams to implement appropriate QA/QC protocol, amicably resolve conflicts, develop practical solutions, and become a sought after QA/QC resource within EGS. Promote a positive environment where staff can bring issues forward to aid in process improvement.
