Job Title: Quality Assurance Specialist
Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at our sauce plant in Pearl, MS. The ideal candidate will conduct sampling and analysis of in-process and finished products, ensuring compliance with quality and food safety standards. This role involves repetitive tasks, sanitation inspections, allergen testing, and maintaining quality programs and certifications. The successful candidate will also coordinate with operations to resolve food safety and quality issues and assist with training and audits.

ResponsibilitiesConduct sampling and analysis of in-process and finished products using company-established techniques and document information derived from analysis.Evaluate organoleptic (taste, smell) properties of products.Perform repetitive tasks without getting bored or distracted.Conduct pre-operative sanitation inspections and enforce corrective actions when necessary.Conduct environmental allergen testing in accordance with existing allergen control programs to prevent cross-contamination.Maintain quality SOPs, HACCP/HARPC, GMPs, pest control, allergen control, and other quality programs and certifications.Keep accurate records of all facility analytical results and report out-of-specification results to the QA supervisor immediately.Evaluate Certificate of Analysis data against specifications and take appropriate actions when necessary.Recommend corrective actions to ensure conformity with quality and food safety specifications and standards.Coordinate with operations to resolve food safety and quality problems and ensure compliance with FDA, SQF, and other relevant authorities and standards.Investigate customer complaints regarding food safety and product quality, and work with management to make appropriate adjustments.Coordinate employee training in HACCP, GMPs, and other regulations, ensuring documentation of training.Assist with food safety/quality audits, SQF audits, and customer audits.Assist the QA and management teams with other needs as they arise.Essential SkillsStrong analytical aptitude and problem-solving skills.Ability to function as part of a dynamic team.Familiarity with food safety and QA programs (SQF, HACCP/HARPC, GMP standards) is a plus, or willingness to learn and excel in these disciplines.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a science-based field is preferred.Experience in a food manufacturing facility is preferred.Ability to stand for long periods, walk through a wet, hot, and/or cold manufacturing plant, and lift 30 lbs.Work Environment

The work environment involves a lot of walking around the plant to different areas, including those with strong smells. Our QA team works Monday through Friday, with weekend requirements as needed. The shift is from 6:00am to 6:00pm Monday-Friday, with flexible night shifts. This role is within a family-owned company with a very laid-back culture.
