Job DescriptionThe Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Manager in performing data audits, special audits, assisting with external and systems audits, overseeing the maintenance of QC records, certifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training records, Demonstrations of Capability (DOCs), arranging and managing proficiency testing (PT) samples. Additional responsibilities may include chemical inventory tracking/traceability and acting with the Hazardous Waste Coordinator in managing laboratory hazardous waste/disposal. EHS duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As assigned by the QA Manager, the duties and responsibilities may include all or some of the following items:Serve as full time, onsite member of the staff and participate directly in laboratory Quality Assurance (QA). Quality Control (QC) and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) activities.Maintain and coordinate schedule/calendar for QA and EHS activities.Assist with Proficiency Testing (PT) sample activity and scheduling; this includes logging into LIMS, timely results reporting, maintaining data generated, initiating and tracking PT outlier investigations.Maintain chemical inventory and traceability using established systems.Conduct periodic onsite audits using established tools (spreadsheets, forms, etc.) as directed for monitoring conformance to SOPs, safety programs and accreditation policies.Prepare QA/QC/EHS reports for laboratory management using established tools.Develop and maintain training records (IDCs, CDCs, etc.) for analysis as required by the accrediting agencies.Acting in coordination with Hazardous Waste Coordinator and disposal vendor, manage required testing and records generation/retention for laboratory hazardous waste activity.Serve as Coordinator of Safety Committee.Maintain calibrations for in-house support equipment (weights, thermometers, balances, flow meters, etc.)Utilize established statistical procedures/techniques for evaluation of QC data generated from testing customer samples.Exercise responsibility and authority to halt work or withhold test reports when non-conformance work is identified.Maintain document control program for policies and procedures.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsBasic Minimum Qualifications (BMQ):
Education/Experience:
BS/BA in Chemistry or related field, or minimum 5 years of experience with clients or in a QA departmentMinimum of 3 years bench level analytical experience including basic QA principles and conceptsAbility and/or Skills:
Functional understanding of terms and aspects of scientific measurement; significant figures, units, conversions, etc.Analytical laboratory techniquesLaboratory QA requirementsStatistical principlesStrong communication skillsTechnical and business writing skillsOrganizational skillsManagement skillsComputer skills and databasesAbility to communicate effectively at all levels of organization, as well as with clients and outside agenciesAbility to analyze problems and effect solutions; problem solving skillsAdditional InformationRequirements:
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorshipProfessional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in EnglishPosition is full-time Monday – Friday day shift. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Ashland, VA are encouraged to apply.
Pay range: $18 - $23/hr depending on experience.
Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes, the actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill set, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
