Quality Assurance Technician
Job Title: Quality Assurance TechnicianJob Description The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all materials are tested appropriately, released, and meet quality standards. This role involves testing raw materials and finished goods to ensure they meet federal regulations and guidelines. The technician will be part of the HACCP/HARPC team and will perform and document pre-operation inspections of processing and production areas and equipment. Additionally, the technician will assist in the implementation of policies and procedures to obtain SQF Level II certification. Responsibilities + Ensure all materials are tested appropriately, released, and meet quality standards. + Ensure raw materials and finished goods meet federal regulations and guidelines. + Perform and document pre-operation inspections of processing and production areas and equipment. + Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures to obtain SQF Level II certification. + Train new staff and provide on-the-job training in GMP, allergen, and sanitation compliance. + Perform quality line checks, including weight, label verification, and metal detector checks. + Test raw materials and finished goods for sensory attributes, chemical composition, and microbiological levels. + Conduct ATP and allergen testing and verify cleaning chemical concentrations. + Coordinate with outside labs for environmental microbiological testing. + Assist in special projects related to new formulations, plant trials, and testing of new analytical equipment. + Perform internal audits on GMPs, safety, sanitation, food defense, and quality systems. + Work with the management team to verify corrective actions are implemented for audit deficiencies. + Assist in the development and revision of all production and quality forms. + Maintain supplier documentation to meet FSMA Supplier Preventive Control regulatory compliance. + Assist in the investigation of customer complaints and implement preventive/corrective actions. Essential Skills + Quality assurance + FDA knowledge + Food manufacturing experience + HACCP training + Food Defense Training + 2-year college degree in sciences (preferred: Food science, chemistry, qualitative analysis, or microbiology) or 2-4 years of experience with a high school diploma + Microplating experience + Quality control + Food safety knowledge Additional Skills & Qualifications + Cross-Functional Line Checks + Pipetting as needed + Environmental Sponge Swabbing + Manage Laboratory Inventory + Understand Production Process Work Environment This is a full-time position with shifts available from 3:30am to 11:30am, 11:30am to 7:30pm, and 2:30pm to 10:30pm. Overtime may be required to meet production demands, with a $1.00 shift differential provided for certain shifts.
