Quality Assurance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the calibration, maintenance, and operation of CMMs to ensure the accuracy and precision of measurements for manufacturing processes. This role involves inspecting, measuring, and validating parts and components to meet quality standards and specifications.  This role is responsible for making decisions on allowable variations and managing the disposition of materials rejected by primary manufacturing through management. This role will assist and train inspectors in Quality Assurance procedures, blueprint reading, and related measuring instruments. The technician will perform product liability tests, follow up on new designs and raw products, and maintain accurate records of testing procedures. Additionally, the technician will safely operate and set up specialized Quality Lab inspection equipment to meet quality and production requirements.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform inspections, testing, tool calibrations, and process control implementation using appropriate tools and equipment; effectively communicate or escalate results.Calibrate and maintain all measuring instruments and equipment.Inspect quality-related data on incoming materials, parts, sub-assemblies, and products using required inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread and plug gauges).Utilize Quality Assurance systems and equipment to access, print, and use documents such as drawings, procedures, and standards.Apply Quality Assurance inspection practices and procedures to determine product quality before release or acceptance.Identify non-conforming materials using blueprints and dimension/quality methodologies; communicate details effectively through documentation.Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and calibrations.Set up and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) as needed.Conduct receiving inspections and calibrate tools and machines across the plant.Provide training and support to other team members on quality standards and procedures.Ensure all quality assurance activities comply with safety regulations and standards.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes and systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

2+ years of quality experience in Machine Manufacturing.2+ years in CMM Operation and dimensional programming.2+ years calibrating inspection gauges.Proficient in calibrating and maintaining measuring instruments and equipment.Familiar with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and process control plan writing.Effective in receiving, in-process, and final inspections.Knowledge of blueprint reading and understanding.Proficient with various measuring tools and equipment.Ability to read and understand drawings, SOPs, inspection reports, and AQL sampling plans.Understanding of Quality Assurance processes and documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Quality and Manufacturing experience in aerospaceISO 9001 experienceTechnical experience and knowledge base to understand Process Control Plans and Quality language.Bilingual in Spanish

COMPETENCIES:

Good decision-making skills to effectively determine product quality before release or acceptance.Ability to transfer, share, and relay information and statuses across shifts.Initiative to drive development in the Quality Department, team personnel, and facility.Proficient in basic computer tasks, including data entry and Microsoft Excel.Effective time management abilities.Adherence to company safety standards and federal regulations.Collaborative team player across departments.Consistently maintain a clean and organized work area (knowledge of 5S is a plus).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Must be able to lift 10 – 20 lbs. occasionally.Must be able to easily grasp products and other materials.Able to work in a fast pace and high product volume.Able to stand up to 8hrs on and walk on cement floor.Continuous visual attention required.Occasionally required to sit, balance, and bend.
