Job Description Summary:

The candidate will be part of our Quality Audit team responsible for conducting process and product compliance audits related to Draper’s Quality Management System (QMS) which is based primarily on ISO 9001:2015, and specially AS9100.

The candidate is expected to work independently with cross functional teams and develop a thorough understanding of our QMS documented Policies, Procedures, and established QOP Infrastructure processes, to support operation and programs.

The candidate should have good understanding of system engineering development life cycles; bi-directional traceability including Hardware, Software, Integration and Test discipline and change management.

As a member of the Quality audit team, the candidate will also be responsible for developing Product and Process audit questionnaires and partnering to improve QMS by analyzing data and generating metrics.

Responsibilities
• Develops and evaluates quality processes and system standards to ensure compliance with company standards and government regulatory requirements
• This position will support audit activities across Draper’s facilities. The position will require up to 20% travel within the United States
• Evaluates quality process and system standards to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory and industry requirements
• Generating audit reports on internal and external audits, system, product and process conformity, pre-audits, and special audits
• Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring quality system process discrepancies
• Interface as needed with programs, engineering, customer, and supply chain representatives to ensure quality system process requirements are met
• Recommends corrective actions, dispositions, and modifications
• Analyzing audit data and generating corporate metrics
• Identifies areas of risk and mitigating solutions
• Ensures ongoing successful compliance regarding ISO9001/AS9100 surveillance and reassessment audits
• Develops and delivers audit planning and results consistently and accurately to all levels of the organization
• Assist with infrastructure audits and Facilitates DCMA and 3rd Party Registrar audits
• Develops, distributes, monitors, and validates internal and external issued corrective action requests (CARs)

Qualifications:
• General proficiency in quality systems is desirable along with demonstrated skills in leading process and productivity improvements in the context of ISO and AS quality standards
• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Systems Engineering or Quality Engineering
• Experience with quality management systems
• In-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems and associated requirements such as ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D
• Ability to effectively prioritize and handle shifting priorities
• Self-starter who can work with minimal direction
• Applies technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines
• Ability to work on cross functional teams
• Ability to obtain and assess objective evidence fairly
• Proficiency in documenting audit plans, procedures and audit results
• Ability to remain true to the purpose of the audit without fear or favor
• Evaluate the effects of audit observations and personal interactions during an audit
• Treat concerned personnel in a way that will best achieve the audit purpose
• Perform the audit process without deviating due to distraction
• Commit full attention and support to the audit process
• React effectively in stressful situations
• Arrive at generally acceptable conclusions based on audit observations
• Remain true to a conclusion despite pressure to change that is not based on evidence
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with the internal team and customer
• Must possess strong organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English
• US Citizenship
• Ability to secure a government clearance

Travel
• Up to 20% travel within the United States
Security Requirement
• Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for having/obtaining up to a Secret Clearance.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Provide technical assistance and support to customers, suppliers, and employees in resolving issues.
•Leads and identifies improvements of manufacturing, process, and product efficiency to reduce nonconforming products.
• Ensures products meet the organizations and customers quality and product integrity requirements.
• Provides analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process.
• Leads a cross function team in the determination of root cause of failures. Identifies when failure analysis is necessary, along with providing recommendations of the corrective measures.
• Analyzes data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects.
• Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction
• Actively mentor less experienced engineers
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities

• Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles
• Familiarity with Quality Standards ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100.

Education
Requires a bachelor of Science degree an Engineering discipline.

Experience
Requires 5-7 years experience in quality engineering or other engineering role.
