Further information is available at: www.care-chemicals.basf.com. **Who are we seeking?** As a Quality and Continuous Improvement Engineer, you are in a shared role designing, implementing and sustaining a Continuous Improvement process and culture at our manufacturing sites in Mauldin and Whitestone (Spartanburg), SC. Your shared focus on improvements for both sites includes: First pass quality improvements, managing the internal non-conformance program, leading quality-related root cause failure analysis, introducing SPC into daily operations, leading digitalization efforts to implement sustainable LIMS and other processes and cultivating a culture with a continuous improvement mindset. You will lead with minimal supervision, partnering with stakeholders from the operations floor to the Site Leadership Team. Your activities will align with the strategic objectives of the Sites as you engage the broader Continuous Improvement Teams in BASF to build know-how and consistency. **The estimated 25% travel is based on this being a shared role with 2 site locations.** **Formula for success...** + Leveraging your education and experience, you will create, implement, and sustain Lean management systems on the shop floor, such as 5S, visual management, standard work, waste elimination, continuous improvement, etc. + Your ability to lead without authority and your knowledge of tools such as Ishikawa diagrams &FMEA etc., will lead efforts to investigate internal non-conformances, bad actors and drive first-pass quality improvement. + Your SAP and Power BI knowledge will be valued as you engage the sites in activities which continually manage and reduce off-class product via rework or discounted sales. + Applying your software capabilities, you will introduce SPC reviews for both sites for improvement process capability and to reduce cycle times + Your knowledge of Lean concepts will aid in the facilitation of cross-functional improvement events such as Kaizen, SMED, Root Cause Analysis, etc., resulting in the elimination of waste and the improvement of safety, efficiency, cost, and the quality of production processes. + Your focus on cultural transformation, in partnership with the Quality Manager will support the Behavior Based Quality program at both sites, improving awareness of quality and customer emphasis. + Applying your knowledge of Quality Systems such as ISO 9001, and in partnership with the Quality Manager, you will implement a cross-site internal audit program for the Quality Management System. + Applying your skills in SAP and LIMS, you will support the development of a sustainable LIMS for both sites. + Your development of high-end SAP user skills will maintain and create COAs, SAPQM profiles and position you as the site contact for SAP-related issues. + Utilizing your familiarity with chemical processes, first pass quality, waste generation etc., you will work with the Quality Manager to create a tangible measure for Cost of Poor Quality and a tracking mechanism which drives improvements. + Leading regular meetings at the site level, you will complete effective Root Cause Analysis, Risk Assessments and FMEAs which support site quality certifications, quality upsets and customer complaints, guiding engineers and frontline leadership on these skills at the operations floor level. **If you have...** + A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related engineering discipline (Chemical engineering preferred) and a minimum of 5 years industry experience in a Manufacturing setting preferred. + Experience with Minitab, JMP, Microsoft Excel and Power BI and a green belt certification or desire to obtain one + Lean concept such as continuous improvement, waste elimination, SMED, 5S, visual management, mistake-proofing, etc. **Create your own chemistry with you@BASF** At BASF, you will have the chance to do meaningful work towards building a more sustainable future.
