Job Description
The Quality Control Chemist I will be responsible for analytical testing of pharmaceutical products, utilizing a breadth of wet chemistry techniques. This individual will join the raw materials team in support of the API group and work with the QC lab team as a whole.
ResponsibilitiesPerform basic chemical testing for multiple APIs/Excipients.Conduct Compendial Wet Testing and Identification testing using techniques such as FTIR/UV.Perform physical examinations, extractions, distillations, and basic chromatography such as TLC.Conduct incoming materials testing on plastic, glass, or rubber stoppers used in production of pharmaceutical drug products.Assist in testing current manufacturing materials to support more complex testing for alternate APIs and excipients.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry.Lab experience from academia.Desire to be a chemist in pharmaceuticals.Hands-on experience with HPLC, UV, IR, Titration, pH, wet chemistry, and GMP.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with HPLC is a huge plus.Understanding of GMP documentation.Exposure to USP valuable for future chemist opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry.Work Environment
This is a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical lab space with significant investment in modernization and workflow optimization. There are over 200 individuals in the chemistry lab, operating on a 24/7 schedule. Social distancing practices are in place, and managers are on a rotating schedule to limit the number of people on-site at any given time. The lab is GMP certified, prioritizing safety and procedural adherence. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 1st shift from 8 am to 4:30 pm, with a 40-hour work week and occasional overtime.
