Quality Control Engineer

General Summary

This position is responsible for administering and supporting the Quality Control (QC) program on a Large Federal Project. The QC Engineer ensures that all construction activities, both onsite and offsite, comply with quality standards and contract-specific requirements through inspections, testing, and documentation. This role assists in maintaining compliance with FAR 52.246-12 Inspection of Construction and works closely with project teams, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure adherence to quality requirements.

Essential Job Accountabilities

Quality Control Program AdministrationSupport the implementation and administration of the Quality Control (QC) system to ensure contract compliance.Assist in conducting the three phases of control (Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-up), except for those designated to QC Specialists.Perform specification reviews, submittal tracking, and testing coordination to ensure quality requirements are met.Project Oversight & ComplianceMaintain a regular presence at the work site, monitoring construction activities for quality compliance.Assist in coordinating QC inspections, testing personnel, and laboratory services to ensure adherence to specifications.Participate in Coordination and Mutual Understanding Meetings to align QC requirements with project execution.Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and MSHA regulations, focusing on hazard identification and safety compliance.Technical & Regulatory SupportAssist in conducting inspections, audits, and material testing to verify that materials, workmanship, and construction methods meet contractual and regulatory standards.Maintain QC documentation, including inspection records, test results, and quality audits.Support the preparation of QC certifications and compliance reports as required by the contract.Customer & Stakeholder CoordinationWork closely with government agencies, subcontractors, and testing companies to support QC processes.Provide technical assistance to project teams, ensuring smooth execution of quality requirements.Assist in training project personnel on quality control procedures, materials production, and construction processes.

    

Education/Certification 

BS in Engineering or related field required

Engineer in Training (EIT) certification desired

Work Experience

Entry Level

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Strong organizational skills

Good oral and written communication skills

Advanced Microsoft Suite and database operations skills required

Self-motivated

Training Skills

Good understanding of laboratory and field testing procedures and equipment

Base Salary Range: 

$74,451.00 - $111,679.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.  ​
