Quality Control Inspector: 2nd Shift

Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing hourly checks to verify the quality of products and the correct setup of assembly processes.  Conducts daily, top layer and random inspections and completes audits of the assembly processes. 

 Responsibilities 

Checks, on a bi-hourly basis, the quality of products and processes; verifies proper line setup, product assembly, quantity and packaging.  Verifies that proper parts are supplied to the line.  Verifies that changeovers are completed properly.  Must perform audits of all departments.  Must be familiar with all types of products such as nozzles, hose assemblies, washer systems and servo motors.  Monitors line quality and performs random audits to ensure that the line is set-up properly.  Responsible for basic troubleshooting and calibration of inspection equipment in the QC inspection area.    Responsible for verifying the condition of all measuring equipment on a daily basis and reporting any damage or wear.  Must follow measurement equipment recall procedure.  Trains new Associates on quality and inspection requirements.  Ensures compliance with all IATF-16949 requirements. Performs QC audit checks.  Provides information and communicates any concerns via tie-in reports with the following shift.  Continuously looks for opportunities for process improvements/kaizens.  Supports other members of the department as necessary and works to improve 5S conditions.    Conducts daily dimensional and functional inspections and destructive testing of products per the inspection standard.  Must compare results to inspection standard and drawing to determine conformance of products.  Documents the findings and notifies quality and Production Supervisor of any non-conformances.  Must be able to read blueprint drawings and may be required to assist Production in understanding drawings.  May be required to assist in receiving inspection or lab activity, as needed.  Performs 100% inspection of all new or high-risk products.  Verifies production buy-off part, per inspection standard.  Must be able to determine if product meets quality standards based upon inspection standards, drawings and master samples and explain decisions to Production leadership.  Responsible for understanding basic SPC charts.  May be required to perform additional duties as assigned. 

 Quality / Environmental Roles and Responsibilities: 

Follows all procedures and work instructions and makes recommendations to improve the process.   Notifies Leader immediately upon detecting any non-conformances.  Records all non-conformances to ensure corrective action and preventative measures are taken and assist in the problem-solving process.  Communicates and practices DMNC’s Quality and Environmental Management Systems.  Takes an active role in achieving and maintaining IATF-16949 and ISO-14001. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Education Required 

High School diploma or equivalent.  Previous quality control experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.  Some vocational training or equivalent experience using measurement equipment and gauges, such as scales, calipers, micrometer, measuring microscope, graduated cylinders and height gauge.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with others.  Basic knowledge of SPC and manufacturing processes.  Must be familiar with Microsoft applications to include Word and Excel.  

Working Conditions: 

Manufacturing environment.  Safety glasses required. Position requires standing, walking and may be required to move, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 35 lbs.
