Quality Control Inspector

Position: QC Inspector

Job Summary: Perform visual and dimensional inspections, conduct non-destructive testing on heat exchanger components and parts, and compile, prepare, and submit documentation to fully comply with internal policy and practices as well as customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Inspect for and verify heat lot number as material is brought into production. Check for accuracy and perform in process dimensional measurement of machined and/or fabricated parts using acceptable measuring devices and standards. Perform inspections on all completed parts and components applying appropriate tag (red, yellow, green). Perform layout or fit-up inspection when requested. Perform hardness tests and visual inspection before and after PWHT. Perform bundle inspections such as, but not limited to, skeletal assembly, in-process and final, before tube loading, and insertion into shell. Use prints to perform dimensional checks of completed parts and/or units. Observe hydro testing, verify hydro pressures, and inspect dry out procedure and dryness. Review and inspect painting requirements. Prepare completed units for shipment by installing or applying name plate, lettering, or others as required. Perform non-code NDE testing using acceptable procedures and standards. Check and re-calibrate tools and equipment as instructed on a continuous and on-going basis. Set up and perform assignments based on shop practices and procedures. Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner, avoiding all unsafe practices. Prepare the QC data file for each job after completion ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge – High School diploma or equivalent; or equivalent experience, sufficient product knowledge/welding procedures.

Skills -  Strong comprehension and utility with English language, blue print reading, job shop/field fabrication work experience required.  A level 1 or 2 technician in Magnetic Particle & Penetrant Testing.

Previous experience with ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 and NBIC, Positive Material Identification and material receiving is desired.

The successful candidate will be someone who is detail focused; possess a strong work ethic, and as needed support a variety of facility projects. Will be expected to work on a rotating weekend schedule; evening call outs may also be required from time to time.  Applied knowledge of MS Office suite of tools – Word, Excel, etc.

The successful candidate must be willing to be trained in a variety of areas including the facility QC processes and material receiving efforts
