About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!

The EA Business Unit in Wendell, North Carolina, which is its U.S. headquarters, focuses on electric-vehicle charging, photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment including packaging and services, and solutions, including automation. Additionally, assembly of electric-vehicle chargers, low-voltage motor control centers, and retrofit and replacement circuit breakers occurs at the facility.

We are looking for a Quality Control Manager. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.

Siemens Industry is looking for a Quality Control Manager for our Wendell, NC factory. The EA Business Unit in Wendell, North Carolina, which is its U.S. headquarters, focuses on medium-voltage power distribution equipment including primary and secondary switchgear, controllers, contactors, circuit breakers, OEM and replacement/retrofit solutions, and services. Additionally, assembly of low-voltage motor control centers and low-voltage switchboards are assembled at the factory. The QC Manager acts as a catalyst for continuous improvement in all plant activity, ensuring outgoing product and incoming supplier component compliance. They are responsible for driving an ongoing failure prevention mindset utilizing key quality planning processes / tools supporting both proactive and reactive activity as required, developing and facilitating continuous improvement activities with the overall goal of complete customer satisfaction and streamlined efficient manufacturing processes.

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and dotted line to the Director of Quality Management. The QC Manger will develop efficiency strategies to ensure the attainment of business metrics and quality goals with special attention on establishing a culture centered on safety and quality. The QC Manager is responsible for promoting a culture that focuses on safety, quality, cost, and delivery while actively driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Acting as a liaison for the factory, maintaining sound working relationships with internal and external partners.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Lead a team of quality technicians, inspectors, and end of line testers to ensure the delivery of a quality product to our customers. The QC Manager is responsible for the quality of material and components utilized within the production processes, as well as the final product to be shipped to the customer. Overseeing the quality processes of incoming inspection, outgoing inspection, gage calibration, material & component nonconformance, production process nonconformance and after delivery non conformance Ensure the quality of product delivered to customers meet design intent. Ensure that quality teams are trained, qualified, capable, and have the necessary tools and process to conduct the outgoing audit process. Ensure that the quality of product purchased from suppliers meets the design intent. Ensure that auditing personnel are trained, qualified, capable, and have necessary tools and process to conduct the incoming product audit process. Coordinate and maintain ISO compliant Quality Management System. Initiate and manage component and product non conformance efforts. Review and approve requested temporary deviations. Review and approve product specification sent to suppliers. Review and approve suppliers. Ensure acceptable calibration of measurement and testing instruments. Coordinate with the production managers to calibrate tools and equipment as required. Provide input to annual Management Reviews. Coordinate ISO Quality Audits Maintain the document control system within the department

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

BS in Engineering 5+ years’ experience in quality engineering / management Competent to understand mechanical and electrical engineering theory / principles Competent to understand mechanical drawings and print reading Ability to understand and use measurement instruments; force gages, calipers, micrometers, hardness testing, basic multi-meter readings, etc. Thorough understanding of the basic materials; Steel, aluminum, copper, brass, plastics, etc. Familiarity with ISO9001 management requirements; Ability to read, interpret, and apply ISO9001 standard requirements Knowledge of machining processes and understanding of basic weld theory and characteristics

Preferred Qualifications:

ASQ certification Thorough understanding of problem solving and quality improvement tools Past experience in a metalworking manufacturing environment Working knowledge of SAP and Sales Force

The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
