QUALITY CONTROL SPECIALIST

This position ensure all aspects of quality assurance and control for both private label hard-line goods and liquids.  Responsible for all aspects of safety and regulatory compliance of hard-line goods.  This position is a hybrid role, reporting into the office in Denton TX on Tuesdays and Weds of each week, working remotely the other days of the week.

Primary Duties:

Ensure product safety, quality and regulatory compliance of Private label hard-line goods, such as electrical appliances, beauty implements, etc.  Evaluate the design of products, create and revise AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) criteria, set up and monitor 3rd party inspection programs and review product labels for regulatory compliance. Audit contract-manufacturing facilities for Private Label hard-line goods and liquids.  This includes qualifying vendors prior to entering the business relationship, and subsequent visits to ensure production process and quality meet all applicable regulations.  Make recommendations on process improvement and/or corrective actions to the contract manufacturers.  If the manufacturing facility is located overseas, work with the 3rd party inspection company for the audit. Handle and resolve post-market product quality issues for both hard line goods and liquids. Communicate issues with Merchandising department and the vendors, and work with vendors to resolve issues. Regulatory due diligence of branded hard goods and electrical items.  Conduct internal audit of Distribution Centers.  Work with Distribution Centers to support government audits.  Work with Tax Department /Distribution Centers to obtain licenses for OTC products, medical devices, and dietary supplements, etc.

Knowledge, Sklls and Abilities:

Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields 3+ years of experience in regulatory affairs and quality control of cosmetic or related industries in both domestic and international markets Good knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and database systems such as Access, etc.  Must have excellent writing ability, communication skills, and organization skills Ability to travel to audit vendors or solve quality issues Detail-oriented Sense of urgency Ability to multi-task Common sense Strategic thinking Team Player

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements
 

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
