Quality Control Technician
Hiring a Quality Control Technician - 2nd and 3rd shift availability Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Quality Control Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist the Sheeter Operator and other team members as necessary, verify and keep records of incoming and outgoing products, and conduct job tasks safely following proper work procedures. This role involves general housekeeping to keep the work area and machinery clean, neat, organized, and free of any safety hazards. The technician will also follow all safety rules and wear all required safety equipment. Responsibilities + Assist Sheeter Operator and team members as necessary. + Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing product. + Conduct self and job tasks in a safe manner following proper work procedures. + Maintain general housekeeping, keeping work area and machinery clean, neat, organized, and free of any safety hazards. + Follow all safety rules and wear all required safety equipment. + Collect representative samples from all lots of incoming materials assigned. + Test samples using prescribed techniques and checklists. + Record and compare test results with specifications for each grade. + Keep necessary test samples and accurate records, and be able to locate data and samples as necessary. + Collect representative samples from start-ups and end of rolls from the laminators and printers. + Perform visual analysis of the samples, looking for defects on the front and back side of the sample. + Conduct and record in-process test results (e.g., Caliper, Smoothness, and gloss tests). + Look for trends and shifts in work-in-process test results, run-to-run, and within-run variability. + Inform supervisor of questionable material and test results. + Notify supervisor immediately of any suspected test equipment issues. + Empty baler. + Calibrate QC equipment. Essential Skills + Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment and stay focused during slower periods. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to support co-workers. + Understanding of quality requirements for products and the role in ensuring quality. + Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. + Ability to perform operations using units of weight measurement and volume. + Basic computer skills and understanding of computer concepts. + Ability to understand and follow operating/job procedures. + Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent, or up to one-year related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Ability to work a variety of shifts and overtime. Work Environment This position has two openings for second shift (3pm-11pm) and third shift (11pm-7am). The work environment regularly involves working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to the risk of electrical shock. There is occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position may involve the generation, handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous waste. The person holding this position will attend a yearly mandatory training session on hazardous waste management procedures, including contingency plan implementation, relevant to the position in which they are employed.
