Quality & Education Coding Manager Position Summary 

Coding Quality & Education Manager organizes, coordinates, staffs, and leads the coding quality and education team of hospital coding auditors. The Manager evaluates and revises policies, procedures and job descriptions and ensures that the coding auditors have the knowledge, skill, and tools needed to perform their duties.  Performs appraisals, manages schedules, provides support and issues discipline as needed. As part of the Health Information Management team, the Coding Quality & Education Manager collaborates with the Coding Operations Manager and Clinical Documentation Integrity Manager to ensure excellent hospital coding quality. The Manager coordinates external coding audits and oversees all internal coding audits including medical necessity compliance.  The Manager establishes a framework of conducting regular coder audits and providing individual feedback, providing regular education sessions to coders, and regular review of literature, rules, regulations, and coding guidelines.  Tracks, trends, and reports data to Director and other leaders.  Researches denial trends related to coding deficiencies and provides education to other departments as required.

 

Quality & Education Coding Manager Position Requirements  

Education

Bachelor’s degree in related field is required, applicable experience in lieu of a degree may be considered CCS certification is required. RHIA or RHIT certification is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Coding is required. Previous leadership experience is preferred  

 

Quality & Education Coding Manager Benefits 

At TidalHealth, team members working at least 36 hours per pay period based on 12-hour shift schedules or at least 37.5 hours for non 12-hour shift schedules and part-time team members working at least 30 hours or more on weekends only are eligible for benefits.
