Overview We are seeking a full-time Quality Engineer in our Miramar, FL location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading small projects and/or sub projects in analysis, development and improvement of quality systems. Essential Functions Develops process FMEA, Control Plans, conduct capability assessment, and measurement systems analysis Develops Inspection Reference Plans in support of RMI (as assigned) Collaborates and adds value in engineering design reviews Designs custom tooling as needed for specific applications Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques Serves as a mentor to less experienced quality engineers (Quality Engineer 1) Applies a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion Applies Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibit a desire to see Garmin succeed Completes basic cost analyses and provides justification for new equipment MIRAMAR SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: Develops inspection methods including visual inspection, dimensional measurements, functional testing and testing procedures for components, assemblies and finished product Validates the accuracy and reliability of measurement instruments, conducts MSA and helps determine and select IMTE and inspection plans Understands GD&T Trains inspectors on inspection procedures and quality standards Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including Safety Shoes and Safety Eyeglasses Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrated full use of industry standards and procedures Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge in use of engineering tools Desired Qualifications Understanding of IATF 16949/VDA/MLA, AS 9100, APQP/PPAP/MSA, Supplier/sub-supplier Quality, AIG Layered Audits and Customer Specific Requirements Previous work or internship experience in a quality engineering role Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
