Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will ensure that products are manufactured in compliance with customer and company quality requirements. This includes managing both in-process and final quality checks for assigned programs or areas, with a strong focus on maintaining quality standards throughout the production cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Process Review:
Review design drawings, changes, operation sheets, process procedures, test protocols, procurement documents, quality manuals, and inspection analyses to ensure compliance with both customer and internal quality requirements.

Contract Review Support:
Assist with contract reviews, ensuring all quality expectations are clearly defined and met.

Standards & Specifications:
Interpret and apply relevant standards such as AS9100C, ISO9001:2008, ASQR-01, and various customer, material, or process specifications to maintain high-quality outputs.

Internal Audits:
Perform internal quality audits, with experience in AS9100 internal audits being a plus. Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal procedures.

Engineering Support:
Provide quality assurance support to the Engineering team during New Product Introduction (NPI) and nonconformance analysis.

Customer Interaction:
Collaborate with the Customer Service Department to address customer issues and resolve them effectively. Respond to customer Corrective Action Request (CAR) submissions with appropriate process improvements and engage directly with customers to resolve quality-related issues.

Supplier & Procurement Support:
Support the Purchasing team by ensuring materials meet procurement, special process, and supplier approval requirements. Flow down quality expectations to suppliers to prevent nonconformance and work closely with suppliers to resolve quality concerns.

Quality Metrics & Continuous Improvement:
Generate and review quality metrics, analyze trends, and drive continuous process improvements to reduce risk. Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action initiatives using tools such as 8D and 5 Why’s.

Quality Clinic Leadership:
Lead and support Quality Clinic activities, ensuring quality issues are addressed and resolved efficiently.

Inspection Tools & Technology:
Implement and utilize new inspection tools and technologies, such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and vision systems, to enhance quality control processes.

Supplier Performance:
Measure, monitor, and improve supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Compliance & Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field or 5 years of inspection experience, with 2-3 years as a Quality Engineer or equivalent. Proficiency in statistical process control and lean principles. Strong understanding of contractual quality requirements and company quality systems. Ability to interpret GD&T blueprints and perform shop math, including trigonometry. Competency in Microsoft Windows and Office. Effective interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others in problem-solving scenarios. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift 40 pounds frequently. Occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, or climb.
