Quality Engineer

Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Quality Engineer. This position is based at our Indianapolis, IN facility. 

 

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the logistics center meet the required quality standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance protocols, conducting audits, and working closely with other departments to identify and resolve quality issues. The Quality Engineer will also be instrumental in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and product quality.     

 

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year.

What you’ll do:

 

Quality Assurance: Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes to ensure compliance with company standards and customer requirements. Conduct regular quality audits of processes, products, and systems within the logistics center. Monitor and analyze quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Act as the quality lead for the plant. Interface and support customer requests, concerns, and evaluations. Monitoring of plant performance regarding the cost of nonconformities.  Act as the representative of the entire Quality function on the product teams. Will need to support additional quality resources as required to support the projects:  Monitor and update daily metrics as scrap, No- Nettable/MRB, Material ion Hold, Customer Complaints, etc.Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.Lead or participate in root cause analysis and corrective action plans for quality issues. Implement continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing defects and increasing operational efficiency.  Training and Support: Provide training and support to logistics center staff on quality standards and best practices. Assist in the development of training materials and quality-related documentation. Act as a point of contact for quality-related inquiries and support for the logistics center.Supplier and Customer Relations: Work closely with suppliers to ensure that incoming materials meet quality specifications. Collaborate with customers to address any quality concerns and ensure their satisfaction. Participate in supplier and customer audits as required.Compliance and Documentation / QMS : Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Maintain accurate documentation related to quality processes, audits, and corrective actions. Prepare reports and presentations on quality performance for management review.Follow-up on compliance in carrying out layered process audits.      Qualifications:

Required Basic Qualifications: 

 

Minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution Minimum of two (2) years experience in a quality and/or manufacturing functionMust be authorized to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the futureNo relocation is available for this position. All candidates must reside within a 50 mile radius of Indianapolis, IN to be considered. Active duty military personnel are exempt from this geographical limitation. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution  Three (3) years or higher of professional experience within quality field with exposure to an international environment ISO/IATF experience Knowledge of quality and continuous improvement inclusive of : Problem solving (8D, Root Cause Analysis), statistics and statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis, measurement system analysis (MSA), geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Internal auditor in quality management systems (IATF 16949) Work experience in logistics and/or automotive manufacturing 
 Skills: Highly organized and pro-active individual that is capable of collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve assigned projects and tasksProficient with analytical skills, effective communication and decision making
