Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position:
Lead projects to drive continual improvement in the production of fiber optic cable and/or strengthen the Product Quality Architecture of manufacturing processes. Drive understanding and improvements to the overall Quality Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with development, engineering, and manufacturing functions on complex projects to ensure quality standards are in place.
• Evaluate the impact of product, process, and equipment changes on product attributes.
• Interfaces with commercial groups, new product development teams, product engineering, and operations to understand customer needs and translate them into meaningful manufacturing specifications and measurement protocols.
• Leads process improvements to improve Product Quality Architecture in the plant.
• Facilitate root cause analysis on products and processes not meeting specified standards and requirements.
• Work with engineering on proactive sustainable solutions vs. reactive responses.
• Hold/ evaluate/ release ware produced under non-standard conditions.
• Conduct MSAs and evaluate process and attribute data to drive process improvements.
• Interact with suppliers to address incoming quality issues.
• Instill a quality focused culture in which everyone feels ownership for quality and acts accordingly.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical, quality, or manufacturing role
• Experience in manufacturing, quality or process engineering.
• Strong data collection and analysis skills; basic understanding of statistics and control charts.
• Familiarity with Quality Systems, audits, TL and ISO Certifications or other types of Quality certifications.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues effectively.
• Structured problem-solving skills to drive to root cause.
• Effective in Project Management.
• Independent worker can complete tasks with minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications:
• Knowledge of optical cable manufacturing process and product attributes.
• Experience in developing and using Data Analytics dashboards.
• Experience with various statistical packages like JMP and Minitab.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt or DMAIC project experience.
Hours of work:
• Monday through Friday. Will be expected to attend off-shift meetings or events on an infrequent basis.
• Additional hours/weekends when needed to support project work/ quality issue resolution.
Travel Requirements:
• Negligible (5% or less)

The range for this position is $79,997.00 - $109,996.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
