Quality Engineer

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our Transport Infrastructure Delivery team. This role forms part of a national team that supports major projects across New Zealand. Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity 

The Mt Messenger Alliance (MTMA) is seeking a Quality Engineer to oversee effective quality management throughout the project. In this role, you will work closely with the project delivery team to ensure a clear understanding and implementation of quality management processes, ensuring that project deliverables are completed on schedule and in compliance with technical specifications and consent requirements.

Key deliverables in this role include:

Assist and coordinate the implementation of quality management processes, procedures and systems, including supporting the delivery team with Quality Assurance (construction work packs), LOT closures and asset handovers.  Facilitate quality control set up, together with running any necessary training sessions; Complete regular reviews of quality management processes on the  project; and Provide quarterly updates on the costs and trends associated with NCRs.

 

About the Mt Messenger Alliance:

The NZ Transport Agency along with its delivery partners on the Mt Messenger Alliance (MTMA), is constructing a new section of SH3, between Uruti and Ahititi to the north of New Plymouth in Taranaki which is located entirely within the rōhe of Ngāti Tama. This new section of SH3 will bypass the existing approximately 7.4km steep, narrow and winding section of highway at Mt Messenger. The complex project involves significant earthworks, drainage, tunnel construction, bridges, and new pavement and surfacing along with some unique environmental enhancement works.

You will be someone with demonstrated leadership skills; you’ll have the ability to drive project excellence and foster a continuous improvement philosophy. You will also have:

A tertiary qualification in Engineering coupled with 3-5 years’ experience in a site-based role (as Site Engineer or similar) and/or Quality role. Exposure to working on major infrastructure projects Sound knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and industry norms Knowledge of HS&E legislation and workplace requirements, along with a good understanding of relevant legislation and regulations in the construction and infrastructure industries The ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written) with key internal and external stakeholders  Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and document management software.
