The full-time position for Design Engineer is part of the Connector group supporting the development and documentation of new and modified designs, tests, and processes of products and services in compliance with customer requirements and company objectives and strategies. This candidate will be working closely with Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Quality Engineers, as well as various production personnel. This candidate shall have the ability to apply fundamental design concepts to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment, have the ability to communicate regularly and effectively with their peers and be able to deliver the expected result set forth by our internal and external customers.
Responsibilities:
• Create 3D conceptual models and detailed drawings, procedures and BOM’s as needed to manufacture and meet design requirements
• Select material specification to meet environmental requirements
• Initiates, reviews, and processes ECO’s for existing product designs/parts
• Perform design trade studies, hand calculations, and tolerance studies to determine product design/development feasibility
• Interact with customers on design, interface and functional details
• Interact with suppliers on prototype and production for ease of manufacturability, risk mitigation, and trouble shooting
• Participate in problem solving and failure analysis activities independently or as part of a team to determine root cause and generate corrective action (CAR)
Leading the project throughout the product development life cycle
• Generating and maintaining standard operating procedure (SOPs) for special process.
• Participate in document control and material review board meetings.
• Continue to develop technical, personal, and industrial skills by participating in hands-on activities (seminars, classroom, in-house training, etc.) to increase experience and judgement
Required Qualifications:
• B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent training and experience
• Two (4) or more years of relative experience in electro-mechanical component design
• Two (2) or more years of relative experience in Subsea equipment or hydraulic design
• Knowledge of drafting standards (ANSI-Y-14.5, DOD-D-1000, MIL-STD-100) and technical writing
• Ability to multitask and attention to detail
• Knowledge of computer aided drafting software
Preferred Qualifications
• Ability to apply customer requirements and government/military specifications to new product designs
• Demonstrated experience generating 3D solid models & 2D drawings (SolidWorks preferred)
• Capable of applying GD&T, and understanding how it effects part cost and manufacturing
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction with various levels of management and customers
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00
