Lippert Marine, with its brand Lewmar, presents to its customers a portfolio of hardware, winches, hydraulics, windlasses, anchors, thrusters, steering systems, hatches and portlights to suit every boat from the smallest day fisher to largest mega-yacht. JOB DESCRIPTION: Quality Engineer - Italy Job Summary The Quality Engineer/Specialist must be precise, methodical, with excellent problem solving, time and urgency management skills. A background in manufacturing and knowledge of mechanical processes will make this resource a plus. The person will be placed within the Product Quality Team and will be responsible for the management of non-conformities (internal and external), the production control of semi-finished and finished products, the analysis of technical project specifications, the drafting of project documentation such as control plans, PFMEAs and measurements. He/She also will coordinate the team to help the Leader when he’s not available. He/She will support Quality’s team members for activities and processes and also will be a support for every functions of the plant (production, supply chain, engineering etc..). Division of labour: - 60% of the time in production for inspections, defect analysis and root cause research; - 40% of the time in the office for compiling documentation. Excellent computer skills requested and fluency in both written and oral English. (French and/or German are considered a plus). Tasks Incoming material acceptance: Dimensional checks, Material hardness check (aluminium/rubber) and Finishing thickness control (painting/anodising) Production process controls: Mechanical processing (bending, welding, milling) and Assembly (assembly/gluing) Spot checks on outsourced machining (sanding/painting/anodising) Management of non-conformity reports (internal/suppliers) using QUARTA software 8D / QRQC knowledge Management of supplier audits Archiving 3.1 certificates of incoming materials Collaboration with Engineering for drafting operating instructions Collaboration with Procurement for management of returns/relationships with suppliers Involvement in customer visits Preparation and management of documentation and product FAI First Article Inspection Requirements Technical degree (preferably mechanical/managerial engineering); Experience in the manufacturing sector (preferably mechanical engineering); Knowledge of the fundamentals of product quality and compliance with specifications Knowledge of the use of measuring instruments (digital gauges, dial gauges, thickness gauges, altimeters...) Customer oriented Ability to analyse and summarise Fluent English Previous work experience in an engineering context Ability to work in a team, time management and achievement of objectives Familiarity with numbers and in collecting, analysing and interpreting data Full compliance with Lippert's core values.
