Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement product quality assurance plans and specifications.
• Assist in the development and implementation of process control plans for designated products.
• Collect and assess statistical capability data to ensure compliance of products, processes and measurement systems to stated quality goals and initiate corrective action as necessary.
• Assess compliance of control plans to stated quality goals and initiate corrective action as necessary.
• Design and acquire gauges, measurement systems, and data collection systems.
• Provide training in product quality requirements, process control tools, statistical methods, gage design, and problem solving to appropriate personnel.
• Issue or modify quality related documents via DCN system.
• Provide feedback and approval of documents included, but not limited to, technical bulletins, test procedures, test data analyses, preliminary catalog information, manufacturing drawings.
• Conduct and report the results of internal process audits.
• Complete periodic reporting of project status, as required.
• Drive process improvements to reduce the risk of external escapes. Engage production to proactively identify quality risks and drive improvements
• Assist in development of Service group product family plans.
• Lead and/or participate in PQP events. This includes defining customer requirements, completing SDA’s, completing process analyses, conducting process and gage studies, and conducting DMA’s.
• Train others in use of PQP toolbox.
• Work with support groups to develop improved gauging methods, improve machine capability, and adjust product requirements.
• Work with Project and Manufacturing personnel to ensure the smooth implementation of process development work in to Value Stream operations.
• Attend PQP CoP meetings.
• Communicates progress through management updates and team meetings.
• Act as a resource to evaluate nonconforming material conditions and provide approval recommendation.
• Assess key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and initiate disciplined problem solving.
• Follow-up on corrective action responses and ensure implementation of appropriate problem resolution methods and verify effectiveness.
• Assist internal suppliers, as necessary, to resolve production problems.
• Evaluate customer requests for information (e.g., capability studies, state of compliance to potential customer specifications) and prepare formal responses.
• Coordinate and analyze gauge R&Rs.
• Design and analyze component capability study information on new processes or quality improvement efforts.
• Participate in department meetings to provide input into the design and implementation of product quality planning systems and procedures.
• Review testing parameters and process sample size calculations for appropriate functional requirements.
• Assist internal and external suppliers, as necessary, to resolve production problems.
• Provide reliability analysis and Weibull data calculations for project and product related issues.
• Provide input into project contracts.
• Develop and execute measurement systems for new products. Includes the coordination and analysis of gauge R&Rs.
• Design and analyze component capability study information.
• Complete necessary documentation to qualify appropriate suppliers as Ship-to-Stock.
• Responsible for entire validation phase of new product development.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required:
• Four year degree in Technical Field
• Maintains on-going education in related areas • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing process design and development, quality planning, and/or quality control supervision
• 6-12 months ISO/QS9000 implementation and/or auditing
• ISO 9000 awareness
• Ability to solve moderate to complex problems and complete multiple projects, uses advanced problem-solving methods to make decisions
• Applies proven technology independently
• Strong oral and written communication including presentation and facilitation skills
• Strong computer skills; including data evaluation and statistical process analysis skills
• Excellent time management skills
Preferred:
• BS in Engineering or Quality-related field
• Advanced (DOE, Six Sigma) problem-solving experience
