Job Description
The Quality Engineer will lead and manage the advance quality control activities in coordination with the Launch Engineer to set up processes for new launch parts to go into production. This person will serve as the liaison between the Sparta IL plant and customers, ensuring customer specifications and order requirements are communicated effectively to plant personnel.
ResponsibilitiesLead and manage advance quality control activities for new product launches.Coordinate with the Launch Engineer to set up production processes.Serve as the voice of the customer, ensuring their specifications and requirements are met.Perform root cause analysis and process improvement.Write work instructions, PPAP, and APQP documentation.Switch between operational and administrative tasks throughout the development process.Essential SkillsQuality engineering experience.Proficiency in root cause analysis, including AD reports, Six Sigma, 5Y, and data analysis.Process improvement skills.A 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or any related engineering field.Experience writing work instructions.Experience with PPAP and APQP.Ability to switch between operational and administrative tasks.Understanding of APQP and experience leading a team in creating PFMEAs, control plans, and other quality documentation for new product launches.Additional Skills & QualificationsAt least 5 years of industry experience post-degree.SPC training.Completion of blueprint interpretation and GD&T courses.Control plan and FMEA training.Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Ability to teach industry knowledge to newer team members.Work Environment
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team integral to new product launches. The position involves working with both internal and external stakeholders, including Spartan employees and customers such as General Motors and Ford. Spartan Light Metals is a die cast part manufacturer for OEMs in the automotive industry, with locations in St. Louis (corporate), Sparta IL, Columbia, and Hannibal, MO. The work hours are from 7am to 4pm.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00
