Job Description
Ensure products conform to established requirements and standards through audit, inspection, and test activities. Interact with internal departments at all levels and external customers and suppliers.
ResponsibilitiesFormulate procedures, specifications, and standards for products and processes following customer requirements with consideration to ISO/TS standards.Establish communication links with customers, vendors, and internal departments to effectively convey quality control information, test results, and corrective measures.Conduct root cause analysis of quality problems and develop and implement corrective countermeasures using 5P, 5 Why, and 8D methodologies.Provide daily instruction, guidance, and assistance to quality inspectors.Compile and analyze data to support departmental reports and prepare and distribute various reports and documentation related to departmental activities such as Material Supply Quality and Quality Report to Customer.Develop and implement quality system planning, efficiency improvement, and measurement system programs to meet company and customer quality and control demands.Perform PPAPs and provide support to APQP activities, design and procure inspection gauges, conduct gauge reliability studies, and create calibration, inspection, and test standard forms.Act as a liaison to customer PQEs and other representatives for new product development and existing programs.Conduct internal and external supplier audits to meet IATF requirements.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree required3+ years in a quality engineer roleExperience working directly with automotive OEMs (experience with GM/Fiat or any other Detroit Big 3 is a plus)Proficiency in root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why)Experience with PPAPs and APQPProblem-solving experience such as 8D and 5 Why methodologiesAdditional Skills & QualificationsCertified auditor preferredKnowledge of FMEAExperience with PLEX (SAP)Strong problem-solving skillsExperience in metal stamping, fabrication, weldingAssertive personalityProficiency in AutoCADGage design experienceExperience with 3D scanners, specifically KeyenceWork Environment
The company manufactures and assembles wheels for the automotive industry, with processes that include welding, stamping, robotics, and assembly. They are a Tier 1 supplier to almost every major OEM except Toyota. The environment is fast-paced, and the floor can be hot and dirty in most areas, although a new expansion has improved conditions significantly. Per shift, the company produces 20,000 wheels. Expect to spend over 50% of the time on the floor, with a 60/40 split between desk and floor time. The quality team consists of 3 Quality Engineers and 10 Quality Technicians.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $68000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
